My Lawyer seems to be avoiding me when I ask for my total closing costs…. should I proceed with caution? I am all about transparency and making sure that I provide the correct answers. I know most of us want to be helpful, but can some of our answers be hurtful instead? The question above was just asked on Trulia advice the other day, aka asking questions on Trulia. Do you feel like you are sometimes back in time when shopping for a mortgage? Is it because you have now talked to 5 different lenders and nothing seems consistent? How is the communication level when shopping good faith estimates? Does that loan officer just give you want you think you want to hear? Wow, no closing costs, what a great deal. Well, yes, because you won't have to come to the closing table with hardly any money out of your pocket. Just watch out for catchy phrases. They can bury you, just as if you were buried under a pile of rocks. That you can't dig yourself out of this. So, Advertising, it can be really catchy at times. As a consumer that might not know any better, this sounds like an awesome deal. NO CLOSING COSTS!! Sign me up and 50 of my friends and family members. Because that last lender was charging
