I know many of us are probably sick of reading about Countrywide and Angelo Mozilo, but let's take a look behind the scenes. Many of us know that Bank of America will buy Countrywide for 4 Billion dollars, that's if everything goes through. Matt Heaton talks about a break up fee if Bank of America decides to pull out of the deal. But it gets more interesting. Let's take a peek behind the scenes that aren't widely talked about within the media.

countrywide: Countrywide sold to BofA -- A Rumor closed - 01/11/08 09:32 AM

Were they rumors that were floating around that Bank of America was going to buy Countrywide? Matt Heaton gave a quick analysis of this yesterday. Bank of America buying Countrywide?  Well, it's been reported that it's official and was announced this morning that BofA to Buy Countrywide for $4B in Stock. The agreement has been approved by both companies' boards and is subject to regulatory and Countrywide's shareholders approval.

Just as easy it is for buildings to fall from demolition or that of a category 4 or 5 hurricane, so are mortgage companies falling by the waste side. Just two more large lenders closed their doors in the last two days, GreenPoint Mortgage of 20 years and First National Bank of Arizona. This makes for 130 lenders to close their doors since the end of 2006.
