google: Google -- Customising your home page - 04/30/08 08:59 AM

As many of you know, I follow Google from time to time. They are so innovative. They change their logos for specific holidays and when you click on that particular logo for that holiday, it gives you a short history lesson. Example :
Now Google has gone beyond that. They are now allowing you to customize your home page with the work of world class artists and innovators. Then you can add your choice of news, games, e-mails, and so many more gadgets, making your homepage colorful.

google: Google & the Chinese New Year -- More marketing ideas.... - 02/07/08 10:03 AM

Google is at it again with it's marketing and awareness campaign per se.  As many of you know, I keep an eye on Google and what they do to their logo every month. As you can see, they have a new logo relating to the Chinese New Year. I think this is a genius move when it comes to marketing and awareness.

As you can see, Google is always thinking of new ways of staying fresh in a certain way. What can we learn from this?  If you have a web site or a blog site, we can change up the … (15 comments)

google: Google strikes again -- It's ego my lego time !!! - 01/28/08 11:21 PM

LEGOS

Lego -- How many of you remember these as you were growing up. Sure, they become popular in the 1970's. But I don't care what your age is, because the modern Lego brick as we know it was patented on January 28, 1958. Today is Lego's 50th anniversary and the bricks from back then are still compatible with the bricks today.

Google has just been an amazing company to learn from in the last year. For any of you that follow my blogs, I have been following Google's logos for the last 13 … (13 comments)

google: Martin Luther King Day & Google -- How to market yourself - 01/21/08 11:45 AM

For many of you know that I follow Google and their marketing strategies, today is another holiday that they have marketed around.  Today is Martin Luther King Jr. Day which takes place on the 3rd Monday of January once a year. For many of you that are history buffs, Martin Luther King played a prominent role in the mid to late 60's, until he was assassinated in 1968. The 1960's was a very instrumental piece of American history in regards to the Vietnam War, the assassination of John F. Kennedy in 1963, Martin Luther King, the Cuban Missile Crisis, and several … (9 comments)

google: Read this if you want to make millions !!! - 01/16/08 10:43 PM

Did I get you to open this link?  Read on if you want to learn how to get more business from your titles. Would you have clicked if I said, "My title is so catchy, it's great....don't you agree??? "  What if I would have said, "learn good title content". --  ?? Not as flashy and maybe slightly boring. Forget the clever title, just like those you hear on TV or read in magazines. Let me show you an example of a title that I used for my blog the other day.

google: Google -- New Years Eve & Marketing...... - 01/03/08 09:44 AM

This will be short and sweet, since many of you know that I have been following Google, their logos, and marketing strategies for most of 2007. But Google launched their New years logo on January 1st, 2008 for just one day.
Take a look at the logo. Do you see that they have their logo linked up to the internet?  Pretty cool, huh?

Summary :  Overall, I will link many of my posts that I did on Google and my opinions on their marketing. Most of all, I think we can learn so much from them. What a great way to capture … (4 comments)

google: Google & the Holidays..... Marketing at its best !! -- Part 3 of 4 - 12/24/07 07:20 AM

Google has just been very fascinating with their logos throughout the holidays, that's if you have been paying attention. I keep stating that we could learn so much from this. Some of you had replied with previous comments that you don't like change and that you don't see how it could help. Let's take a quick look at this.
Why possibly change up your logo or web site?
Keeping it active. Google actually likes to see change. When was the last time that you actually changed your web site, even if it was a little change. If anything, it keeps people on their toes … (12 comments)

google: Google & the Holidays..... Marketing at its best !! -- Part 2 of 4 - 12/23/07 07:38 AM

Happy Holidays from Google. If anyone watched the progression of Google's holiday logos, it was pretty cool to watch it unfold. If not, you can catch it here. Google & the Holidays..... Marketing at its best !! -- Part 1
The question here is, are the little guys in the picture still working or is this the final touch? If you go to the Google logo, the number 3 spot still has question marks. And you have what appears to be green earmuffs and a yellow crane still in the way. In part 1 yesterday, Colleen Fischesser mentioned that she can … (12 comments)

google: Google & the Holidays..... Marketing at its best !! -- Part 1 of 4 - 12/22/07 12:17 PM

As some of you know, I have been following Google throughout the year and how they market themselves. Okay, some of you might say that they really don't need to market their name because they are so well known. Maybe this will surprise a few. And the Number ONE spot for Top Brand name goes to.  But can we learn a lot from how they market?
Has anyone paid attention in the last few days and have watched Google change up their logo for the holidays?  Very interesting. The logo on the right appeared yesterday. If you click onto the logo, this … (20 comments)

google: Google & Thanksgiving -- True marketing lessons learned - 11/22/07 11:15 PM

Thanksgiving is a day to give thanks to all that surround you, may it be family or friends. Something that many of us look forward to each year.
What is interesting is how Google markets itself, especially during the holidays. Google's mission statement is, "to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful." Google's corporate philosophy includes a statement such as "Work should be challenging and the challenge should be fun."  (both the mission statement & the corporate philosophy was from Wikipedia.)
So, how can you learn from Google?  What is your mission statement?  Your philosophy in regards to business? … (6 comments)

google: Google & Marketing.... It's Halloween - 10/31/07 06:33 AM

It's Halloween.... How do you market yourself? I use to go around delivering pumpkins to real estate offices with painted faces on them and my name painted on the back.
I am always impressed on the different marketing techniques that Google has to offer. But in all honesty, I am a little disappointed in this years image in regards to Halloween. I personally find in bland and boring. But then again I just do mortgages for a living. But I do consider myself very creative. How do you consider yourself? What do you think about Google's Halloween image?
The importance of marketing … (22 comments)

google: Google & 4th of July -- Another Marketing Twist - 07/04/07 09:35 AM

How creative are you in your marketing strategies? Do you brand yourself? Do you change up your image? Your name?  How you brand yourself?
I have been following Google since Christmas and how they change their logo on each holiday. The last one that I wrote about was in regards to Google + Earth Day = Marketing twist & creativity.

Today is the 4th of July which is also know as Independence Day. There is a lot of history that surrounds this day. And even though Google operates on a lower advertising budget than the top ten brands, they certainly add a … (20 comments)

google: What do you find when you Google search your name? - 06/21/07 01:42 AM
I have had several questions in the last few months and I can't seem to get any detailed information. Can any of you help? Know some inside information? Know how some of these searches work?  Can it be beneficial to me or can it hurt me?
I went to Google the other night to search my name again, Jeff Belonger. This is something that I would recommend doing often, just to see if others are using your name. There are also services out there that will alert you to when someone has potentially copied a blog of yours or even some bits … (25 comments)

google: And the Number ONE spot for Top Brand name goes to........ - 05/03/07 11:51 AM

Believe it? Yes, it was just recently announced that Google has been named the most powerful global brand of 2007.
Are you thinking, how is this possible? I can't eat Google. I can't drive Google. So how is this possible? It's the 2nd year in a row that a tech brand name has beaten out such powerful household names such as Toyota, Coca-Cola, Campbell Soup, Marlboro, and Budweiser (Anheuser-Busch).
So, Google becomes King of the Hill and not only takes over the number one brand name, but also has the number one web site.
Here is a list of the top … (17 comments)

google: Google + Earth Day = Marketing twist & creativity - 04/22/07 07:02 PM

I did a post on Google and marketing back on 12/12/06 titled Marketing..... Good or Bad. Google always seems to amaze me not only in their search engine capabilities, but on how they just come up with the change of their logo. Especially when they want to get a message out there or show their support for certain observances or periods of time throughout the year.
Today was Earth Day which is observed on April 22nd, which marks the precise moment of the beginning of spring. I think there are many reasons why Earthday is mentioned in the Northern hemisphere. But we … (20 comments)

google: Marketing..... Good or Bad - 12/12/06 07:54 AM
Now... I don't mind changes from time to time. Even after several marketing classes in college, which I think are out-dated, I sometimes wonder what some people or business's try to accomplish.
I went to do a Google search this morning and this is what I found. I don't know of any press releases or reason behind this. Any thoughts, opinions, or inside information to as why they did this would be great. Maybe even getting the opinion of Marti Garaughty or Jeff Corbett who both seem good at marketing perspectives.
But how can I relate this to Real Estate or even Mortgages? … (46 comments)

google: The strength of Active Rain & "you" as the community........ - 12/05/06 11:11 PM

Today was an interesting day. Marc Blasi started us off with a blog yesterday which I took to the next level. Since then, there have been about 4 other blogs that have been featured, related to the topic that Marc had discussed. Rich Jacobson had made a few comments in my blog,New Group Confusion - Part 2... A spin off blog. - Retaining new members on Active Rain, which happened to have been opposite of what my blog was about. He challenged myself and other's on Active Rain to be patient. You need to read the blog to find out more. But … (46 comments)
