loan officer: FHA & Conventional Mortgages -- Have you been striped of your morals? - 12/15/07 07:15 PM
How many of you know the difference from right and wrong? Know the difference between telling the truth or telling a lie? I will say this, I am not God nor am I perfect. I know when I have lied, when growing up. And I was punished for it. But what about as a professional? Or do we even call these people professionals? I had the pleasure of meeting a couple today from Sheri Smith. This couple was pre-qualified by another loan officer about 3 months ago. The loan officer told Sheri and her clients, no problems and happy house

loan officer: Is a FHA Loan Officer like a Doctor? - 10/12/07 02:47 PM
How does a loan officer compare to the life of a doctor that performs surgery? One thing for sure is that there is no comparison when it comes to the years of schooling that one has to go through to become a doctor. Matter of fact, you don't even need to have an education to become a loan officer. This might sound scary to many because buying a home is one of the biggest investments that one will make in his or her lifetime. Is education needed to get by in life? Is education and college important? Can you be successful

loan officer: Realtors, do you do this? Consumers, just be careful sometimes..... Locking in mortgage rates -- Part 1 of 2 - 08/23/07 11:00 PM
Client's shopping for a mortgage who get to the loan officer first. They feel really comfortable with this particular loan officer and actually tell this loan officer that they trust them. Mr. Loan officer, thanks for educating us, says the client. It's been a few days now and the loan officer has not heard from the buyers after leaving a message on their cell phones, at home, and both of their e-mails for 2 days straight. This couple prior to this was calling this loan officer every day for 1 1/2 weeks. Yippie. I caught the buyer, Mrs. Client, at work. We

loan officer: I want you... I want your business..... Pretty please, I am good, trust me...... - 08/05/07 08:20 AM
"I want your business! Why won't you give me a try? I promise to do a good job. We should give each other a chance to work with each other because we are both on Active Rain." This seems to be the theme as of lately, 'asking for business'. I am not here to knock the way people ask for business, but I just wanted to give my .02. I have read 3 different posts this week all written by loan officers talking about referrals. The problem is not so much asking for the business, but expecting it just because you are

loan officer: Mortgage Banker vs Mortgage Broker -- What is the difference???? - 07/23/07 06:22 PM
There has been a lot of talk recently about the difference between a mortgage banker and a mortgage broker. This talk is not just from realtors and consumers, but those in the mortgage industry. And if it seems a little confusing at times to the actual loan officer, just imagine what it might seem like to the average realtor or even the consumer. There are 2 main differences with a 3rd that will be explained later on within this post. A Mortgage broker acts as an intermediary who sources mortgage loans on behalf of individuals or businesses. Traditionally, banks and

loan officer: Will a Realtor do business / refer business to a lender or loan officer out of state? - 10/09/06 10:46 PM
I just wanted to throw this question out there. Again, I have been in the mortgage industry for over 14 years. I have been with large lenders, a few mid sized lenders, and some smaller brokers. Even though I am based in Cherry Hill, NJ; I can do loans in any state with my current company. Ever hear of Cendent Mortgage (PHH/USA Mtg)? They are one of the top 10 lenders nationally and located in NJ. They do business in every state and very successful. But it helps when you are buying business also. LOL (long story) I get my business from
