marketing: Would you rather work with a Marketing Guru or a Real Professional? - 07/08/10 11:27 AM

For many of us, we market ourselves in many ways to achieve a specific goal. That goal usually represents money.  What I am about to talk about is geared more towards loan officers in general.
More recently, I have seen more loan officers take on other roles in getting their name out there.  Some have been recognized by news agencies in which some of them have earned it. In my opinion, others have not earned the right to be called an expert in their so-called field.
I guess the question is, who are you really dealing with when … (52 comments)

I am sure marketing dollars are tight for many of us. How do you target your marketing dollars. Keeping in mind, time is money.  So how do you utilize your time and your money?

Social Media Marketing is going to be a term that you start to hear about more often now than ever before.  You have already heard of Web 2.0, which describes the trends being used within the World Wide Web of technology and web design that adds creativity, secures shared information, collaborates information, and induces the functionality of the web.

marketing: How to Market yourself in 2008 - Networking - Networking Groups, SOI, & Ideas - Part 3 of 3 - 02/28/08 11:55 AM

Networking, networking, and networking......  What does it all mean?  In my opinion, you need to be open-minded about new ideas and attack them before everyone else jumps on the bandwagon.  You also need to be consistent in who you network with on a weekly or monthly basis. Lastly, you need to have a few different outlets in regards to networking and not putting all of your eggs in one basket per se. Basically a true business plan which I talked about in Part 1 of this series : Marketing & Branding

To properly network, you do need a … (62 comments)

We have heard many market reports that 2007 was bad and that 2008 might be worse. For some, 2008 has been a great start, but has slowed down. Do you have a game plan for 2008?  Do you have a business plan?  Or are you just putting your head down just praying that it gets better?

There are many ways to market yourself. The end result is that you are the one that controls your own destiny. Being strong, showing perseverance, open minded, one that thinks outside the box, and determined is a formula for success in my … (43 comments)

Google is at it again with it's marketing and awareness campaign per se.  As many of you know, I keep an eye on Google and what they do to their logo every month. As you can see, they have a new logo relating to the Chinese New Year. I think this is a genius move when it comes to marketing and awareness.

marketing: Google strikes again -- It's ego my lego time !!! - 01/28/08 11:21 PM

LEGOS

Lego -- How many of you remember these as you were growing up. Sure, they become popular in the 1970's. But I don't care what your age is, because the modern Lego brick as we know it was patented on January 28, 1958. Today is Lego's 50th anniversary and the bricks from back then are still compatible with the bricks today.

Google has just been an amazing company to learn from in the last year. For any of you that follow my blogs, I have been following Google's logos for the last 13 … (13 comments)

marketing: Martin Luther King Day & Google -- How to market yourself - 01/21/08 11:45 AM

For many of you know that I follow Google and their marketing strategies, today is another holiday that they have marketed around.  Today is Martin Luther King Jr. Day which takes place on the 3rd Monday of January once a year. For many of you that are history buffs, Martin Luther King played a prominent role in the mid to late 60's, until he was assassinated in 1968. The 1960's was a very instrumental piece of American history in regards to the Vietnam War, the assassination of John F. Kennedy in 1963, Martin Luther King, the Cuban Missile Crisis, and several … (9 comments)

marketing: Google -- New Years Eve & Marketing...... - 01/03/08 09:44 AM

This will be short and sweet, since many of you know that I have been following Google, their logos, and marketing strategies for most of 2007. But Google launched their New years logo on January 1st, 2008 for just one day.
Take a look at the logo. Do you see that they have their logo linked up to the internet?  Pretty cool, huh?

Summary :  Overall, I will link many of my posts that I did on Google and my opinions on their marketing. Most of all, I think we can learn so much from them. What a great way to capture … (4 comments)

marketing: Google & the Holidays..... Marketing at its best !! -- Part 3 of 4 - 12/24/07 07:20 AM

Google has just been very fascinating with their logos throughout the holidays, that's if you have been paying attention. I keep stating that we could learn so much from this. Some of you had replied with previous comments that you don't like change and that you don't see how it could help. Let's take a quick look at this.
Why possibly change up your logo or web site?
Keeping it active. Google actually likes to see change. When was the last time that you actually changed your web site, even if it was a little change. If anything, it keeps people on their toes … (12 comments)

marketing: Google & the Holidays..... Marketing at its best !! -- Part 2 of 4 - 12/23/07 07:38 AM

Happy Holidays from Google. If anyone watched the progression of Google's holiday logos, it was pretty cool to watch it unfold. If not, you can catch it here. Google & the Holidays..... Marketing at its best !! -- Part 1
The question here is, are the little guys in the picture still working or is this the final touch? If you go to the Google logo, the number 3 spot still has question marks. And you have what appears to be green earmuffs and a yellow crane still in the way. In part 1 yesterday, Colleen Fischesser mentioned that she can … (12 comments)

marketing: Google & the Holidays..... Marketing at its best !! -- Part 1 of 4 - 12/22/07 12:17 PM

As some of you know, I have been following Google throughout the year and how they market themselves. Okay, some of you might say that they really don't need to market their name because they are so well known. Maybe this will surprise a few. And the Number ONE spot for Top Brand name goes to.  But can we learn a lot from how they market?
Has anyone paid attention in the last few days and have watched Google change up their logo for the holidays?  Very interesting. The logo on the right appeared yesterday. If you click onto the logo, this … (20 comments)

marketing: Do we have an epidemic on our hands? - 11/24/07 03:50 PM

How do we view ourselves? How does the public view us, our profiles, and anything else that they read?
Are we that desperate to 'rope' the consumers business into our back yard per se by such statements as :
"I have the lowest rates"  "We charge no closing costs" "I will get the best price for your house, guaranteed" "I am the best and cheapest, I will beat anyone's pricing" So let's do a reality check here. How much can you feel comfortable when someone mentions free, guarantee, best rates, or freebies when using the services of a lender or … (52 comments)

marketing: Google & Thanksgiving -- True marketing lessons learned - 11/22/07 11:15 PM

Thanksgiving is a day to give thanks to all that surround you, may it be family or friends. Something that many of us look forward to each year.
What is interesting is how Google markets itself, especially during the holidays. Google's mission statement is, "to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful." Google's corporate philosophy includes a statement such as "Work should be challenging and the challenge should be fun."  (both the mission statement & the corporate philosophy was from Wikipedia.)
So, how can you learn from Google?  What is your mission statement?  Your philosophy in regards to business? … (6 comments)

marketing: Google & Marketing.... It's Halloween - 10/31/07 06:33 AM

It's Halloween.... How do you market yourself? I use to go around delivering pumpkins to real estate offices with painted faces on them and my name painted on the back.
I am always impressed on the different marketing techniques that Google has to offer. But in all honesty, I am a little disappointed in this years image in regards to Halloween. I personally find in bland and boring. But then again I just do mortgages for a living. But I do consider myself very creative. How do you consider yourself? What do you think about Google's Halloween image?
The importance of marketing … (22 comments)

marketing: Marketing outside clients with newsletters ....... - 08/06/07 08:37 AM

How many of you market to your current clients? Those clients that you have closed since you have been in the real estate business. How do you market to them? Quarterly newsletters? If so, do you use paper newsletters or e-mail newsletters?
So, what about reaching more people than ever before? Are you interested?  I wrote a post several weeks ago in regards to business card tips.  Do you save the business cards that you receive? Could you have 100's by now? Think of these business cards as your Rolodex. Potential clients that could be buying and or selling real estate … (23 comments)

marketing: Marketing & Branding..... Are they one in the same or different? - 07/09/07 07:36 PM

I have been reading several blogs that talk about branding yourself or marketing yourself. But after reading these, they all seem to talk about the same thing. In reality, there is an actual difference between the two.
A brand is a name, logo, slogan, and/or design scheme associated with a product or service. Brand recognition and other reactions are created by the use of the product or service and through the influence of advertising, design, and media commentary. From wikipedia.
Marketing is one of the most important functions in business. It is the discipline required to understand customers' needs and the benefits they … (36 comments)

How creative are you in your marketing strategies? Do you brand yourself? Do you change up your image? Your name?  How you brand yourself?
I have been following Google since Christmas and how they change their logo on each holiday. The last one that I wrote about was in regards to Google + Earth Day = Marketing twist & creativity.

Today is the 4th of July which is also know as Independence Day. There is a lot of history that surrounds this day. And even though Google operates on a lower advertising budget than the top ten brands, they certainly add a … (20 comments)
