seattle: Fake it till ya make it!!! - 10/07/08 11:02 AM
We've all heard it before.
Why not take this time when things are slow to re-think the basics. No matter what you're selling, the basics are usually the foundation to all success. As we get caught up in "life" it seems the first things that go are the basics.
I recently noticed during a meeting one of the customers in the room was a "watcher". They looked at everyone. Body movements and how they spoke. Everything. It seemed that everyone in the room was "interviewing" for this person and didn't even know it.
We have two ears and one mouth so listen twice as … (4 comments)

seattle: The ad seemed simple. Realtors are a tough nut to crack - LO seeks effective nut cracker! - 09/19/08 01:29 AM
As many of us go through our daily routine in this business, we realize that what worked yesterday may not work today.
Many of us have gone to the "guru" seminars and have applied the principles we learn. Do they work? Are they effective? Who do we ask when we need help? What we learned at the "big" one last year may not be relevant today!
I was once told that if you live your life to the fullest, the day you stop learning is the day you stop living. Well, I'm still alive and the learning continues.
Over the years of … (0 comments)

seattle: The Iron-clad Loan Pre-Qual - Not so much! - 09/18/08 02:00 PM
Food for thought.
In the last month, we had 9 particular loans that were originally pre-qualified with the lender. During the loan process, program changes had taken affect and these 9 loans were no longer approved with these particular lenders. In 3 of the cases I am aware of, the loans had already been locked.
This has been happening from time to time over the last year or so, but this last month, we hit an all time high. This is not to say we didn't get those loans done, I believe in all cases we did. Just something to think about when … (0 comments)

seattle: A Realtors Point of View - - 09/18/08 12:14 PM
As a loan officer, we hear and see some different things then a Realtor may. Likewise, as a Realtor you will see and hear different things than a loan officer.
I have voiced many opinions and thoughts. I have read many opinions and thoughts. Now, I have some specific questions to Realtors that I am hoping are not only helpful to me, but others who read this.
I realize that not a one of us has a Crystal Ball and the speculation is flying everywhere. The point of this is not for a specific answer, but opinions that may give myself … (2 comments)

seattle: Read at your own risk - - 09/12/08 11:55 AM
Over the last 7 or so weeks I have been putting up these blogs for all to see. Many have called me and claim the things I post DO NOT WORK. Why this and that are bad ideas. Every excuse you can think of.
I have been mocked, yelled at and told some pretty good stories.
I welcome it all. If I could not do the things I write, I would have concerns. If I have not already done the things I post, I would be really concerned. Any excuse will work.
I always welcome the negative. That's one way we learn. But all I … (5 comments)

seattle: Realtor(s) wanted - Investment Group build - Need Homes - 09/09/08 01:02 PM
Going through the Active Rain group list, I find many are talking about investments and "deals" in the market today. I have read many good posts and have thought about what so many of you have said.
Like many of you, I research homes, view them and go to the auctions on Fri in both King and Snohomish county. During my time researching this strategy, I have met many "investors" that are always looking for that one great deal.
In the market we have now, the "deals" are better than in the past, but many investors think it is all reletive.  … (0 comments)

seattle: Every Realtor is sitting on endless sales - and don't even know it!! - 09/05/08 12:23 PM
To all who have read my past articles and those who have not - Here ya go!
The things that I have posted are things that I have either done myself or done with a Realtor in the past. Many have gotten in touch with me stating that these things work and they have done them in the past.
IF THEY WORK, DO THEM TODAY! TOMORROW! DON'T STOP IF THEY WORK!!
Today I pass along some food for thought. Things that many of you may do. Many may not. Either way, they work. They work very well and require work.
Who … (11 comments)

seattle: To the "Loan officers - The tough nut to crack group" - 09/04/08 11:26 AM
I had put up a post a while ago about a new site that is going to be available to our industry in the near future. www.easywaytoshop.com is the URL.
The directory is free to be placed on and all are welcome to go to the site and make a request to be put on the directory. The system is very unique and its production is still in the works.
Feedback or comments on the site are always welcome.
Good luck to all!

seattle: A contact a day - Forgetting the basics - 08/27/08 01:31 PM
It seems that we get caught up in everyday life and sometimes forget the basics of what it was that (at one time or another) made us successful either now or in the past.
Several months ago I was training with some new LO's and in the room sat two Realtors. I was unaware until the end of the training that these two were Realtor's and not LO's.
One of the key points during this training was something that I had done for years and many others, during the course of the last decade, had also recommended.
A contact a day! What ever your … (3 comments)

seattle: Don’t be fooled if your life preserver doesn't float! - 08/15/08 12:08 PM
At times in life when you're sinking fast, can you identify "your" life preserver?
Over the years, I have found that the vast majority of us don't even know what one looks like. Don't be fooled. It rarely looks like a white donut made of foam. It's usually disguised as your neighbor, friend or the person you overhear in the supermarket that's talking about buying a new home.
I was in Greenlake the other day with a Realtor I had just met. This was a seasoned Realtor (so he said). If you have read any of my blog's in the past, you know my … (2 comments)
