This is a press release from Historic St. Mary's City. In 1704, Maryland Governor Seymour ordered the sheriff to lock the Roman Catholic brick chapel at St. Mary's City and see that it was never again used for worship. Join us, 305 years later, as St. Mary's County Sheriff Timothy Cameron unlocks the massive oak and pine doors of the reconstructed chapel and invites the public to explore the building. Following a brief ceremony, researchers and builders will be available to answer questions about the chapel project.
