activerain: Give Thanks Where It Is Due, 4,000,000+ Pieces Of Content Moved In A Week Is No Small Task - 05/04/10 07:45 AM
I want to start by saying that this post is not a post about griping about the recent headaches we all experienced here at ActiveRain.  Nor is this post about how wonderful I think ActiveRain is.  What this post is about is simply one thing, the people of ActiveRain.  While we have all experienced deep frustrations over the past week and many have already voiced opinions about ActiveRain on Twitter or Facebook. This is not my post ranting about things, it is a post about the people who run the network.
I get the point that some of us are paying … (77 comments)

activerain: ActiveRain Ranks #1 Real Estate Network on Google Out of 147 Million - 07/06/09 05:32 AM
This morning as I was performing my regular duties here at ActiveRain, (answering trouble tickets) I came across a ticket that was obviously spam, but hey I had to still read to make sure it wasn't a member needing assistance with something.  Here is what the ticket said inside:
"We would like to get your website on first page of Google.  All of our processes use the most ethical "white hat" Search Engine Optimization techniques that will not get your website banned or penalized.  Please reply and I would be happy to send you a proposal."
Normally I just hit the … (47 comments)

activerain: 40,000 Visitors to Your Rainmaker Account in just 25 posts! - 04/19/09 10:17 PM
The other night I was chatting with The XBroker, Jeff Corbett and he was sharing with me how he was stunned by the amount of traffic his recent post, Survey Says...Realtors Suck!  In less than 48 hours, the post had over 10,000 views.  As I began writing this post, it had been viewed, 11,951 times and clicked on to be read, 11,483 times.  Personally I was blown away by these stats!
When I was selling Myrtle Beach Real Estate full time as a real estate agent and had just a personal website, the highest amount of traffic my website ever received … (76 comments)

activerain: My First Week as an Activerain Staff Member - 03/16/09 12:06 AM
As many of you have already found out, I was introduced last week as the newest member of the ActiveRain team.  Since coming on board, things have been in quite a whirlwind to say the least.  My first major task is taking care of the trouble tickets.  (For those of you who have submitted a ticket, the box has been trimmed to 1/4 the size, but still has over 150 left. So be patient, I'm working on it!)
By spending the week working on the trouble tickets and fixing things for you, our Activerain Members, I have learned a … (73 comments)

activerain: If You Are Using Activerain as an MLS, You Obviously do not Understand What a Blog is or Social Networking! - 03/03/09 08:58 PM
Every few days I moderate through the Activerain MLS Online Group and remove posts that do not follow the group guidelines.  Without fail, just about every time I go through I come across at least one or two agents that have posted anywhere between 10-20 listings in a row.  When I see this, I normally take a few minutes to view their blog to see if they are using their blog as an MLS extension, or if they are also integrating in localized content about their area.
Almost every time, the agent is only posting their listings on Activerain and nothing … (73 comments)

activerain: Where was Activerain 2 years ago? - 01/07/09 05:08 AM
Today I had a few minutes to spend surfing the web so I visited youtube to see what kind of fun or entertaining videos I may run across. I started by searching for the term Activerain.  That is when I found this video:

It is funny to see how some things have changed here on Activerain over the last 2 years and others have remained constant.  Back then Matt & Jon were so proud of there 30,000+ member site.  Now, in the near future the site will have 130,000 members!
I wonder if when Matt & Jon sat down on … (20 comments)

activerain: Write your blog once and distribute to 8 places instantly via Activerain! - 10/27/08 06:44 AM
So while chatting with Jason Crouch today on Skype, we began discussing all the wonderful ways our Activerain blog is being shared instantly on multiple networks every time we write a post.  Some of the networks I didn't even remember having set up a feed to months and months ago.
Once you go through the set up which normally takes anywhere from 2-3 minutes your blog is automatically being fed to all the different social networks everytime you write a post and increases your exposure exponentially. Each site works a little differently, but all of the applications below were very easy … (31 comments)

activerain: Outside Blog Launched - 06/30/08 05:52 PM

Yesterday my outside blog launched! What is so great about this site is that it was very simple to set up. I went through Godaddy.com and set up an outside domain page. If you are wondering how to set up your own outside domain name blog, click here.
I am very excited to see the awesome results this Blog will bring in terms of SEO. As Bob Stewart said, it should "kick butt." By the amount of publicity this has received from not only inside Activerain, but also with Inman News, I am sure this will do exactly what Bob … (8 comments)

activerain: My Juice is Googled! - 06/09/08 06:31 AM
Yesterday while I was at lunch with friends from Church, a few of them were speaking about Facebook and how they were on there all the time. I shared that while I have one, I don't use it much because I focus my time on My Real Estate Blog.
"Real Estate Blog?" the one replied. I said "Yes, my real estate blog. You can find a link for it on My Website. On my blog you can find all type of information about the local real estate market as well as information on local events." At that moment, another friend … (8 comments)

activerain: Happy 3 Months My 150th Post - 06/07/08 06:24 AM
Today marks 3 months as an active Blogger for me. Over the past 3 months I have had a wonderful time on Activerain and have formed some great relationships with some new friends. I have learned an immense amount of knowledge about proper ways to blog, how to increase SEO, how to track my backlinks and more.
Also, I have written some great pieces and some not so great pieces.

activerain: Activerain & Localism do it again!!! - 05/06/08 02:40 AM
A few weeks ago, I was contacted by an account manager for NewHomeSource.com and asked if I would like to be featured as a writer for their site. The gentleman shared that he has been reading several of my posts Activerain & Localism and really enjoyed the fact that I write more than just posting listings.
They are a national website that features national homebuilders like Beazer, Centex, & Ryland Homes and now they feature articles from ME!
Yesterday, they posted my first article live. It is titled: Customizing Your New Home. They have asked me to become a … (47 comments)

activerain: Pushing Buttons - 04/05/08 04:55 AM
I just finished reading a post by Active Bob and after reading the good post about who is answering your office phone and setting the tone, and it got me thinking.  We all from time to time push a button with someone.  Sometimes we do not realize we push a button with someone, and other times, we may think we are going to push a button with someone, and do it on purpose just to get some sort reaction out of someone.  Now not all buttons that we push is a bad one.  We have the choice to push someones good or bad buttons with the … (7 comments)

activerain: Dear Activerain... - 04/04/08 03:14 AM
Dear Activerain,
I have been a member here now for a little over 3 weeks.  Since joining, I have made over 45 posts, made almost 375 comments, as well as spent hours on making new graphics, creating videos, and searching for good content.
I am at a place where I check my email more constantly looking to see if I have received any comments to my posts anywhere between 20-25 times a day.   If I don't, I go checking the ones I commented on to see if anyone commented back.
So, if I could, I would like to make a suggestion to be added to the … (19 comments)

activerain: My Company wants me to teach Activerain!!! - 04/03/08 05:51 AM
You heard right, my company wants me to do a training session on Activerain & Real Estate 2.0! Here is how it all came about...
Yesterday I went to a class that was titled "Servicing vs Marketing...How to Keep Your Sellers Happy"  I thought this would be a good class to attend, to help refresh me on how to keep sellers whose homes are taking longer and longer to sell happy.  Well, as the class was ending, our company trainer and I started having a discussion.
I asked her about what type of training she saw coming up in regards to Real … (10 comments)
