myrtle beach: If you thought Doogie Howser was smart, check out this Child Prodigy! - 11/01/08 10:21 AM
You all remember the show, with the child prodigy doctor.  If not, this should refresh your memory.  Well, the other day, my wife decided to sit down at my laptop while I was making up some dinner.  She was holding Isabelle, who has always had a keen interest in watching her daddy type on the computer.  I think she likes the bright colors on the screen.
Well, while my wife was sitting there, Isabelle quickly leaned in towards the keyboard and decided to press a few buttons.  My wife believed she wanted to send me an email.  So, she opened one … (35 comments)

myrtle beach: Even with the tightening on finances, the kids still gotta eat! - 10/16/08 09:35 AM
This was a post that was written for yesterday, but due to some crazy circumstances, it never made it live.
Poverty- What is Poverty? Unlike most popular beliefs, it is not something found in just some third world countries.  Poverty can be found in your own city.  I remember when I lived in PA and we would travel down to inner city Philadelphia and see people sleeping in cardboard boxes or under the bridges.
Our church used to make meals and deliver them to the hungry & homeless of Philadelphia and try to show them that others do care and want … (16 comments)

myrtle beach: A night at BB&T Coastal Field- Myrtle Beach, South Carolina - 08/27/08 10:38 AM
Last night, my family & I had some tickets to go see the Myrtle Beach Pelicans play the Wilmington Blue Rocks at BB&T Coastal Field in Myrtle Beach, SC.  The Myrtle Beach Pelicans, are an Atlanta Braves Class-A Minor League team. They have been in Myrtle Beach since 1999.
My wife & I enjoy going to see the games because the prices are very reasonable at only $7.00-$9.00 per ticket.  However, I can attest, no matter which section your tickets are in, you are going to have great views and a great time.  You can see what the views are like … (9 comments)

myrtle beach: A Night at The Pool- The Farm at Carolina Forest~Myrtle Beach, SC - 08/11/08 09:51 AM
Over the weekend we had some of the most beautiful weather here in Myrtle Beach, SC. Since I have been so busy the past few weeks with real estate, my wife decided it was time for us to do something relaxing. So she suggested we go to the pool in our development.
We have been delaying going to the pool this summer because of Isabelle's birth and not wanting her to get overheated, or sunburnt. But, with the cooler temperatures in the low 80's, it was the perfect time. So, we changed into our suits and headed for the amenity … (12 comments)

myrtle beach: Thanks for all Your Help! - 08/09/08 12:05 PM
I had a goal of reaching 100,000 points by August 7th which was my 5 month anniversary here on Activerain.  The problem was that I was about 15,000 points shy 10 days earlier.  So, to reach this goal, I had some serious work to do.  I wrote my max 10 posts/week and even a few extra.  I left over 400 comments on others posts.  But still I was almost 8,000 shy.  So, the only way to reach this goal was to start inviting others.

myrtle beach: The Blanton Team is Adding a New Member! - 07/05/08 01:54 AM
While on vacation in Austin, Texas I was on a mission to recruit a new member for our Real Estate Team. Many people heard about my recent web expansion by adding a new blog titled www.myrtlebeachhomesblog.com. Along with this new great internet presence I knew I would begin fielding many more sales calls & listings due to the new site. So, in preparation, I have hired my newest team member. His name is Caelin.
Caelin seems to be very energetic, pleasant to work with, and very passionate about whatever he is working on. I have noticed though he seems to have … (17 comments)

myrtle beach: Great Food with Entertainment - 06/24/08 07:20 PM
One of my favorite places to go & eat in Myrtle Beach, SC is Miyabi Steakhouse.  Miyabi is a Japanese Hibachi Steakhouse.  They have the nice large Hibachi Tables where friends sit around their own personal Hibachi Grill and enjoy an entertaining dinner cooked by their own personal Chef.
You will be mesmorized by all types of cooking tricks from flaming onions to erupting volcanoes of Soy Sauce Lava.  Watch as they make shrimp fly and toss them into your mouth.
One of the best parts of Miyabi is that they have early bird specials where prices are reduced $5-$10 on … (6 comments)

myrtle beach: Another way to save when Visiting Myrtle Beach - 06/22/08 02:03 PM

As I traveled yesterday from Myrtle Beach, SC to Atlanta, GA to visit family, I realized something that was a great way to save some money while traveling.  The total time of our drive is right around 6 hours and is just over 385 miles. Normally when making this trip, I make a few stops along the way to stretch, have a snack, etc... and of course get gas.
Well, on this trip I was determined to purchase gas before leaving South Carolina into GA.  The reason for this is that Gas in South Carolina is right now the cheapest … (5 comments)

myrtle beach: Forecast: Constant Thunder till May 18th - 05/10/08 02:24 PM

o, the weather forecast has not said that it will rain for the next 9 days in Myrtle Beach. The thunder I refer to is the continuous rumbling of thousands of Motorcycles across the area as bikers have traveled from around the country to Myrtle Beach, SC for the annual Bikers at the Beach.
Reports estimate hundres of thousands of bikers to be in the area this year for the event. To give everyone an idea what it is like, here are a few pictures taken at the intersection of my office just a few moments ago:

myrtle beach: A good Laugh - 04/10/08 11:26 AM
I was driving down the road the other day when I passed by one of our new landmark communities in Myrtle Beach called Plantation Lakes.  This community is made up of custom built homes ranging anywhere in price from 400k to over a million.  One of the signature parts of this community is its memorable entrance made up of 3 flowing fountains, lush landscape, and more.   However, someone decided to play a cruel prank.  I could not resist turning my car around, and going back for a few pictures.  Hope you all enjoy!

myrtle beach: Urban Meets Ocean - 04/02/08 03:10 PM
On April 3, 2008 The Market Common of Myrtle Beach will have its Grand Opening.  The idea behind The Market Common was to create a unique lifestyle place for urban living.  When you are at the Market Common, you can live, work, play all in the same area.
The Market Common is being built on the retired Myrtle Beach Air Force Base that was an active base until the early 1990's.  This property now will feature some of the areas finest homes, restaurants, shops, and entertainment places.  Some of the wonderful businesses that are coming to The Market Common include:

myrtle beach: Myrtle Beach Historic Landmark - 03/29/08 12:05 PM
Ok, so I am definitely one for contests.  Melissa Grant announced a new contest for people to write about a historic thing in their area.  So, I decided I would pick the Ocean Forest Hotel.  It was the first major hotel in Myrtle Beach.  At the time it was built, Myrtle Beach had no type of hotel in the area.  The landscape of our area was mainly small beachfront houses.  Then came along this grand hotel 10 stories high, crystal chandeliers and more.  This hotel was the beginning of current day Myrtle Beach.  It turned us into a tourism destination and … (4 comments)
