This past year I've had the honor of traveling the country as a social media speaker sharing on all types of social media topics like using Facebook for business, how to blog, video basics, and many other topics. Is Twitter Stupid or A Great Source of Traffic? One of the things I usually try to point out to people is

twitter: Are you Optimizing Your ActiveRain Blog on Twitter? - 05/12/09 02:44 PM
I spend all day in front of the computer reading posts on all sorts of subjects here on ActiveRain. One of the ways I enjoy finding the newest and latest posts on ActiveRain is to use Tweetgrid. I usually keep a few columns open with different keyword terms i want to keep track of during the day. Of course, one column that always is open is ActiveRain. I noticed though the other day a recurring theme from many of our members on the network. In September, 2008 ActiveRain added a feature that as Brad said, "Mark this day as another

Have you ever wondered why in the world would I use twitter? Why would someone care that I am having a morning coffee, or taking the dog for a walk. As I have mentioned the numerous benefits of using twitter on many occasions, here is another way to look at it. Using a site called Twinfluence you can analyze your twitter profile to see just how effective you really are. Here are the stats from my profile: As you can see, it starts by showing my rank which is #3,159 of over 24,000 profiles that it has analyzed. While that

twitter: The Importance of Google Alerts plus Power of Twitter..Just another day in Paradise! - 01/10/09 09:58 PM
Yesterday as I was checking through my regular email, I noticed a google alert for my name. At first when I started reading it, I was trying to figure out what it was. A blog posted by a company called Viscape which is vacation property site posted a list called Top Vacation Real Estate Twitterers that you should follow. The list included several other very well know bloggers. In order to make the list you had to be nominated by someone. I am not sure how I got nominated, but my name and twitter id was published in their post. While

twitter: The Twitter Craze Continues!~ Using TweetCube to send files on Twitter - 11/18/08 12:46 AM
Have you ever started a conversation with someone on twitter and wanted to send them a file? Maybe you write a wonderful post about a new listing and somoene who sees it and looking to buy or sell real estate inquires about more information from you. Would't it be great to just send them a file directly with the MLS details, or a zip file with photos? Or maybe a .pdf of the property plat. Normally to do this sort of thing, you would need to open your email software, direct message the person on twitter for an email address and

twitter: Activerain Launched Twitter App- We sent to Facebook, why not Myspace too! - 10/13/08 02:51 PM
As many are aware by now, Activerain recently added an application to send your posts automatically to your Twitter account. I wrote last week about a great application for Facebook to send your twitter updates to your facebook acount. Well I wanted to find a way to send this to my Myspace Page as well. So, I began doing some investigating and found a great application to add onto your myspace page that will send your twitter feed onto your myspace page as well. After searching a few minutes, I found that Myspace now has an application similar to the one

twitter: How the Heck Does Facebook Bring me Business? Three Simple Letters...SOI! - 10/05/08 02:37 PM
I just finished reading Cat Zwicker-Grant post where she asks I have Facebook and so what? Did she sign up for this just to have imaginary pillow fights and find out what type of instrument she is? While unfortunately you do have many people who send those crazy things daily, against popular demand, facebook can actually be useful. I joined facebook a few months ago and really did't understand how it can help my business until just a few weeks ago. Here is how you use facebook to make business for you. The people who request to be your friend are

twitter: Activerain added Twitter Feature...Send it on To Facebook instantly as well! - 09/29/08 08:57 PM
Shannon Gilmore wrote about the new feature on Activerain that allows you to automatically tweet your posts to Twitter. While I am very happy this feature has been added, I wanted to share a way to take the use of this application a step further. When I started using twitter a few months back, I found a really neat application for my facebook account. By using this application, whenever I send a tweet, it automatically updates my facebook wall and changes my status on facebook. Since the name of the game is exposure, I would definitely suggest setting this easy application

twitter: How Twitter can set you apart from the competition when listing a home - 08/20/08 03:05 AM
Yesterday I was out on a listing appointment and I began sharing with the couple how we market their property, our strategies in selling their property, and what price to list at. We were the third agent the couple had interviewed for listing their property. Since I knew ahead of time they had already interviewed other agents, I knew we would have to use something to wow the buyer in our presentation. So, earlier that morning while I was sitting in a Doctor's office with my grandparents, I started writing to my twitter account about my dislike for Hospitals & Dr.'s
