activerain: MY FIRST FEATURE! - 6 Years Ago Today! - 11/14/16 11:16 PM
Wow, how things have dramatically changed! I joined ActiveRain November 7, 2010. We had just moved to Missouri to work with a church ministry for 2 years and I needed to supplement the income. Little did I know what that would have turned into!
This was my actual Facebook post from that day that I ran across in the memories today:
"I GOT FEATURED!! 8 Days into Blogging on ActiveRain - THE biggest real estate blog out there! (this is huge by the way and I am super pumped... can you tell?)"
Some of you that have been playing in the rain here for … (13 comments)

activerain: Oh That's Not Fair! - 11/26/12 08:59 AM
So, I love AR points, I love the system, I love watching the numbers go up and keep track of all those fun things... but something I just noticed and am soooo not too happy with (as should be everyone on the most subscriber list) is the fact that AR just bumped almost all of us! I was #27 on the list and I come back from the weekend to find I was #33. It took a few hundred subscribers to bump up under the 30 mark and now all of a sudden I'm 6 behind? But I noticed that no … (32 comments)

activerain: Don't Expect Too Much Out of Me - 07/19/12 01:36 AM
Don't expect too much out of me
The next two weeks is going to be the most hectic it's been in two years. Two years ago we moved to Missouri from Washington state and now, in just over a week, we will be moving back.
Tim and I came to Missouri to work on some major ministry projects within our church headquarters. Tim has done numerous networking, SEO, website design and integration plus many major details such as packing up computers for Africa, building churches, and distributing Bibles. While our goal is to serve no matter where we are planted, our full-time … (25 comments)

activerain: Another 100K Bites the Dust... - 07/13/12 05:40 AM
WHOOHOO - 300K Points in the Bag! I was waiting and waiting for that 7,000 point reward from the local posts contest to drop into my bag and today that number put me over the 300K mark! I don't know what I am more excited about; the numbers or the reality of another $10 off my monthly AR bill? Both are cool and both add more authority and more money in my pocket each month.
I don't like going after points for the sake of points but I do like adding them up constructing quality blogs, community comments and of course, … (28 comments)

activerain: Why ActiveRain is a Good Place to Start.... - 05/29/12 11:34 PM
I have a lot of people that ask me if ActiveRain is a good investment. Should I spend the money or should I just go with a free blogging platform? It all depends on where you're starting from. If you are brand-new to the blogging world, have a brand-new website, or just don't know where to start,  ActiveRain  is an excellent option.
The reason being is the reputation and authority that  ActiveRain carries. Since it's already highly well-known in the search engines and gets indexed by Google and others, you're already starting ahead of the game. If you started on your own with … (41 comments)

activerain: Are You Turning People Away and Don't Even Know It? - 05/24/12 03:34 AM
Can a personal photo make more people interact with you? When commenting, clicking on or in general, doing business with, doesn't it help to have a face to go with the name or business? Maybe it's just me. But I like knowing whom I am dealing with before I actually do business. Is that to say I won't do business if I can't see them? Well, probably not, but I am more likely to respond to a business that has a public face.
When I speak to anyone on the phone or over email about doing potential business with them I … (8 comments)

activerain: Is it Better to Have a Signature or Create Your Own on Every Post? - 05/15/12 01:15 AM
Is it Better to have a Signature or Create Your Own on Every Post? With Google's new Penguin update using your keywords over and over forever building up your back links is getting a little bit of a slap on the hand for some. While you will probably have to have thousands of back links all with the same keyword, some of you might be getting there with your blogs on ActiveRain.
Having a signature is fun and and an easy way to put in a few back links and some basic bio info about you (here's a good step by step how … (54 comments)

activerain: Whatever!! Getting featured is a BIG Freakin' Deal! - 11/16/11 03:28 AM
Whatever!! Getting featured is a BIG Freakin' Deal! Say whatever you want - (you who have been featured so many times it's as easy as waking up in the morning). But to the rest of the ActiveRain world, getting featured is a pretty big deal. Don't tell me you could care less. We are all human and there's something giddy-like when you realize your post made it to the home page of ActiveRain.
I know, I know - You want the Google juice and to get found for your blogs by the general public. Of course! That's really half the point … (30 comments)

activerain: My First Year at ActiveRain - The HoneyMoon Stage is Over - 11/11/11 08:43 AM
And now the real work begins, right?
Well here is it. My first full year at ActiveRain. This is my 302 post in that year and I am excited to say, I'm gonna stick around a while! Knowing about ActiveRain for several years I didn't see the point in joining myself until I realized how quickly AR posts got indexed. I thought, this would be perfect for my clients to get instant back-links, more exposure off-site and better rankings. Little did I know how much fun I would have in blogging for myself.
My first post: Real Estate Agent in Bozeman … (92 comments)

activerain: The Keys to ActiveRain Blogging - Stats, Views, Clicks and Comments - 09/03/11 04:05 AM
If you don't know Richard Yates, you are either brand-spanking new to ActiveRain or under a rock - [insert crazy Geico commercial about living under a rock]. Richard is heeelaaarious... very candid and ultimately a very adorable person to know.
This post is certainly worth a re-blog for me because these are things you need to know if you're going to blog on ActiveRain or haven't blogged a lot but want to know more about doing it.  The simple act of RESPONDING to commenters and making random comments throughout the day will get you noticed and subscribed to. activerain: ActiveRain is walking a fine line - THEY choose the features... not you! - 04/11/11 01:45 PM
ActiveRain is walking a fine line - THEY choose the features... not you!
This is going to be a controversial post and one I hope some staff members comments on. I know that staff chooses the features.. not you... not us... so what's the point of the "suggest" feature? Digg.com got in hot water over this a couple years ago when they were only "digging" their friends or their own posts... not what the actual public really wanted to know about.
I know you are thinking that the same person would get featured over and over should they have more subscribers … (52 comments)

activerain: It Quietly Happend One Cold and Dreary Morning..... - 04/04/11 04:40 AM
The wind is picking up outside and threats of a tornado are eminent in near by counties. But here in the quiet and still room of my home office, it happened quite suddenly and sneakily....
I hit 100,000 points!
I really thought I was doing good when I hit the 50K mark only 75 days in but now here I am over 100,000 points and a little over 4 months in. I have had a blast! Learned new things, met great people, got my toes stepped on and picked myself up to learn that I am good just as I am. … (22 comments)

activerain: Welcome To Houseble.com - ActiveRain's New Name! - 04/01/11 01:18 AM
Welcome To Houseble.com - ActiveRain's New Name!

After 5 years playing in the rain ActiveRain has now launched it's new name Houseble.com - THE premier Real Estate Network.
Most don't know about ACtiveRain and it means nothing about housing to the general public or real estate professionals alike. ActiveRain has recognized this grave misunderstanding and chosen to launch themselves into the keyword rich domain world.
Zillow, Trulia? What do these have to do with selling houses? NOTHING! They soon too will be left in the dust by site such as REALTOR.com and HOUSEVALUES.com. These are what the public want to … (24 comments)

activerain: Algorithm Foreplay (Part 2) - 03/15/11 02:09 AM
Here it is folks, the long awaited conclusion to Algorithm Foreplay Part 1. (Ok, maybe it wasn't that long or that awaited, but it's still a fun title, don't you think?)
As we talked about in the first part of this series, it really pays to show your website cards a little at a time. Keep Google coming back again and again to your site, your blog, your profile or whatever to find something new each time.  Make sure you send out something new and fresh every once in a while - Google loves it!
In this part I'm going to … (51 comments)

SEO Client: "I want to ramp up the SEO this year and willing to put in huge, exorbitant bucks to make it happen"

Isn't that something every SEO professional wants to hear... but it really isn't about throwing as much money at the issue as you want and hope it does it all for you. This was my response to him.

Hi Scott.
There are a hundred different SEO marketing companies you can pour your money into but they all basically do what we do.  There are a few different directions we can go here. You COULD … (56 comments)
