Wordless Wednesday | It snowed today - 02/29/12 08:58 PM

That's right it snowed today in Dutchess County NY.  Very little snow all this winter but February decided it was going out with a bang.
Just when we thought we could put away those shovels; a little reminder that winter is not yet over.  Then there is March, that can be a wild one you just never know what to expect.
Okay so I had to make sure a driveway was plowed for an inspection tomorrow.  Seller make sure you clean off your driveway if you have scheduled showings.

Speechless Sunday | Crying out for help - 02/26/12 07:42 PM
Crying out for help
Today I had my hands filled with towels as I headed for the laundry room.  On the way I kicked over a plant,  what bad timing.  I really did not have the time for the mess.  There was dirt all over the floor and in the rug.  Well I couldn't just leave it, so I dropped the laundry and bend over to take a closer look.  I discovered that the plant was badly in need of water and had outgrown the pot.
Oh! maybe I was tripped by the plant it was crying out for help.

Poughkeepsie Luxury Waterfront Townhouses | Hudson Pointe Community - 02/25/12 07:18 PM
-
Hudson Pointe is a luxury waterfront townhouse community in Poughkeepsie NY with stunning views of the Catskill Mountains, Hudson River and magnificent sunsets.

These townhouses are located between Route 9 and the Hudson River.  Sitting high on a bluff Hudson Pointe enjoys a front row view of the Hudson River and the Mid-Hudson Bridge.  It is a great location since you are within walking distance to the  PoughKeepsie Metro-North train station, Vassar Hospital and Shadows on the Hudson the waterfront restaurant, all visible from the complex.  There is also a waterfront park to be developed just below the townhouses.

Selling your Poughkeepsie house in today's market - 02/24/12 08:59 PM
Selling your Poughkeepsie home in a today's market With a mild winter it is a good time to list your Poughkeepsie home.  Sellers we are still dealing with a buyer's market. What is a buyers market? this typically occurs when there is high inventory and it takes more than a 8 plus months to clear. Seller I am going to be blunt, to get your home sold you will have to do much more than when sellers were in the driver's seat. Because of limited funds you might not want to fix certain problems before listing; that would be a mistake. It … (7 comments)

Wordless Wednesday- Overkill? - 02/22/12 06:24 PM
Overkill? I will be the first to admit I know very little about cars and trucks, I just want the one I am in to work.
To this novice eyes this looks like overkill, and I am expecting the car enthusiast to chime in.  This is a photo of an auto show held at the Dutchess County Fairgrounds in Rhinebeck NY.  The guys were all busy showing off their toys so that could explain the overkill.

Speechless Sunday| Taking the long way home - 02/19/12 08:54 PM
Taking the long way home

I don't know about you but  sometimes I am just drawn to a path or a road I had never gone down before.  Yes I am curious and love discovering new places and things.  This can get me into trouble at times.  Taking one of these path are street meant taking the long way home at time. I often would get lost, a 10 minute trip would turn into an hour.
These days I make sure I have a GPS handy just in case I end up lost, yes these days I don't worry so … (23 comments)

Buying an older home in Rhinebeck what you should consider - 02/18/12 08:59 PM
Buying an older home in Rhinebeck what you should consider
Many consumers looking for a second home in the Rhinebeck area usually want to find an older home from the 1700s-1900s. The wish list includes: clapboard siding, wide board flooring, period details, fireplace, 2 bathrooms, large rooms, pond or stream and a private lot.
Trying to satisfy such a wish list is not always easy and here is why.
Many older Rhinebeck homes are not very private and are located close to the road or in the village.  This is not a surprise because when you think of the time period in … (6 comments)

Wordless Wednesday| Early spring please - 02/15/12 08:30 PM
Very little snow in the Northeast this winter.  A big saving for municipalities already struggling with their budgets and it would have been a saving for consumers if the price of heating oil had not gone up.  Bad news for those depending on snow for a substantial part of their income.
And then there is me.  I should be happy this unusual weather is producing higher temperature , yes that's good.  My issue is; everything looks so dull, and I really missed the snow since it would change the landscape.  Fresh fallen snow is so beautiful that is until I have to … (21 comments)

Rhinebeck Real Estate Market Report January 2012 - 02/14/12 10:38 PM
Rhinebeck NY Real Estate
In Rhinebeck 6 single family homes sold in the town and village during January 2012.  The sales ranged from $168,050 to $635,000.
How did the number of single family homes sold in Rhinebeck compare to the same time last year?  Last January 3 homes sold and they were all under $200,000.  This January the number of homes sold doubled, and they were more expensive homes.
I personally think the warm winter is good for the local real estate market. Buyers are out looking for a home.  The largest group are first time buyers and this is not … (7 comments)

Speechless Sunday I might be different but I hold my head high. - 02/12/12 06:28 PM
Last week I had the opportunity to run across lots of horses, such magnificent creatures.  Within the group I saw one horse that looked different from the rest, a silver looking horse. What struck me about this horse is the way it stood out among the crowd, it was if he knew he was different but that did not stop him from holding his head high.

Light snow won't stop the Winter Market Event in Red Hook today - 02/11/12 08:47 AM
It  is  snowing lightly in Red Hook, a rare occurrence this winter.  Today happen to be a regular scheduled winter market event at the Elmendorph.
There is always a variety of produce and and products to see.   At one of the recent event I picked up the black turnip which I really enjoyed, can't say the same for the rest of the family they just did not like the way it looked.
Another time I picked up some goat's milk soap yes there were unscented bars available.
So don't  let the light snow stop you from visiting the market today.

Wordless Wednesday|Dutchess County NY Equestrian Properties - 02/08/12 10:12 PM
Dutchess County NY Equestrian Properties

I was recently showing houses in the Town of Clinton in Dutchess County NY when I saw these horses.  This scene jogged my memory, there are many equestrian properties in Dutchess County, and as a matter of fact ,throughout the Mid Hudson Valley.
This area is also known as a second home destination and it is not uncommon for buyers to have as a criteria, a barn or maybe stalls for a horse or two. One such new listing is an equestrian farm listed for 27 million dollars.

Speechless Sunday |Misty Morning - 02/05/12 11:38 PM
Misty Morning
I was on my way  to put signs up on a parcel of land I had listed when I ran across the morning mist.  There is always something intriguing about going through the mist, and down this country road there was much to see. When I came to this barn with the beautiful landscape behind it I just had to stop and take a shot, this was my favorite scene of that misty morning.

Wordless Wednesday| What happened to winter? - 02/01/12 11:58 PM

What happened to winter?  Today it was in the 50's and many of us ditched the coats.  It was such a pleasant day to tour some of the new homes on the marke,t and the listing agents were also happy to see us because this time of year attendance is not that great.
So winter seem like a distance memory but having taken many  photographs of winter I can always get a quick reminder of the way things could be.
