How was the real estate market in Dutchess County NY in March 2012 (edit/delete) How was the real estate market in Dutchess County NY in March 2012
 In Dutchess County during March 2012 there were 8 less homes sold when compared to same time last year.  However, when compared to February 2012  there were 20 more sales in March.  This could have been a result of seasonal change as well as the fact the winter was mild.
The average price saw a 44.1 percent drop from same time last year going from $475,840 to $265,769 which is an indication more expensive … (7 comments)

Speechless Sunday | Bikers - 04/29/12 05:08 PM
The Bikers are out!Today on my way to my open house, I couldn't help noticing the many Bikers travelling north on the Route 9 corridor. The first group passed me just before the Culinary Institute, then there were a few cars and then another group, you could say they owned the road and with the accompanying noise I sure took notice. There were bikes of all kinds. I wonder where they were heading? Today the weather was great and it sure was an awesome day for a bike ride.The Bikers are out!

In March 5 homes closed in Rhinebeck, 1 in the town and 4 in the village,  actually this was 3 more  sales than in March 2011.  The 19 new listings in March ranged in price  from $140,000 - $1,850,000.

Speechless Sunday | What if bleeding hearts came in purple? - 04/22/12 08:26 PM
I was sitting here playing with a photo of a bleeding heart, I changed the color to black and white and then to purple. I liked the way the purple looked, but then I had this question, would it still be a bleeding heart?I noticed there are white bleeding hearts so why not purple.

Mid Hudson Valley Activerain meet up - 04/17/12 08:59 PM
Last Sunday we met at Torches on the Hudson,for the first ever Activerain meet up in the Mid Hudson Valley.
And although only four of us showed up a little less than half the expected group Andre Aragon, Debra Walsh Janis Borgueta and I had a wonderful time.The weather was delightful and the views of the Hudson River was spectacular. As you will see in the video there were very few photos of the group, mainly of the scene.

Speechless Sunday| Fishing in the Hudson River - 04/15/12 08:45 PM
The weather today was delightful; and many decided to have some fun on the Hudson River, I saw sail boats and other watercrafts.
I was especially intrigued by the couple who setup chairs and threw their fishing line into the Hudson River.  I actually saw the woman catch a fish and she was extremely proud of her accomplishment. She then made a decision to throw it back,  I missed the shot because at that moment I took a phone call.
Yes the Hudson River could be considered the centerpiece of the region.

During March in Red Hook NY 11 new listings came on the market, 2 of the listings were bank owned and 2 were in an area that has remained stable for some time. The price range on these listings was $84,500-$519,900.
At the end of March one listing in Red Hook went under contract. This home went quickly because it was priced well.

Speechless Sunday | Could this be Green fencing in Red Hook? - 04/08/12 08:01 PM

Could this be green fencing in Red Hook.  I went passed this farm several times, and I noticed the bales of hays at the edge of the farmland.  On my last trip I also noticed that they were stacked between post, and then it struck me could this be a form of green fencing in Red Hook?   I am sure those bales would remain intact until the crop was harvested.

One sign of spring I don't welcome - 04/04/12 08:51 PM
I do love the beautiful flowers of spring, the green grass, the birds singing and the warmer weather.  Spring does have some drawbacks, mosquitoes, Lyme tick and of course that creepy garden snake.
As a gardener I should love the garden snake since it gets rid of bugs, mice, slug, voles, Japaneses beetles, so you could say a garden snake is really good for the garden.  If I could just get beyond the creepiness.

Take a tour of the Culinary Institute of America in Historic Hyde Park NY - 04/02/12 07:22 PM
A couple of days ago I posted a photo of the fountain at the Culinary institute of America and promised to follow up with a video.  In the process of making the video, I suddenly remembered that this was one of the last places I toured with my dad before he passed away a few years ago.  This brought back so many memories and I suspect the Culinary Institute of America will always be special to me.

If you look closely in the background  you will spot the Culinary institute of  America in Hyde Park.   I was down near the Hudson River taking a few shots when I noticed these pillars.  I never did find out the story behind them but I will be asking.  Anyway after I took the shot I saw my shadow was included so that is how I came up with the title for this post
