It is snowing lightly in Red Hook, a rare occurrence this winter. Today happen to be a regular scheduled winter market event at the Elmendorph.
There is always a variety of produce and and products to see. At one of the recent event I picked up the black turnip which I really enjoyed, can't say the same for the rest of the family they just did not like the way it looked.
Another time I picked up some goat's milk soap yes there were unscented bars available.
So don't let the light snow stop you from visiting the market today.

The Red Hook Winter Market has been a great success and an inspiration for other communities.
I have had the opportunity to visit and purchase organic meat, produce and much more.
This event showcases local farms, small businesses, as well as local musicians.

I really hate to see the Red Hook winter market come to an end. But it was a terrific season! For the last few months I have reminded everyone about the event and I watched the attendance increased month over month. It was also a pleasure sharing pictures of each event especially since the displays were nicely done.
This Saturday March 13th from 11:00AM- 2:00PM at the Elmendorph in Red Hook is your last chance to participate in this wonderful event.

On November 7th The Friends of the Elmendorph will hold a silent auction, a fundraising event to help with the maintenace of this beautiful space.
Back in December, I wrote about the Elmendorph to bring attention to the highly successful winter market. At that time, I mentioned that it was The Friends of the Elmendorph who were instrumental in saving this building from a state of disrepair.
The event will feature a dinner, a silent auction, and Jazz music provided by the Will Smith Trio.

Yes, that's right. This is the last Red Hook Winter Market event of the season. The two previous events were a huge success and we hate to see it end. However, it is also an indication that spring is around the corner. Hey!.

This winter is very much like the traditional winter, very cold. It is during this period that a community need social activities to help them get through this period.
With this in mind the Friends of Elmendorph has an event planned so members of the community can have fun and at the same time support the Elmendorph.

The Winter Market was first held in December and was a success despite the weather. Many who missed the first event will welcome this event.
The participants will be the same, although according to Miriam Latzar of Hearty Roots there will be more available baked goods this time

Winter Market in Red Hook was a success despite icy weather.
Despite the icy weather and the power outage, I am happy to report that the Winter Marketat the Elmendorph in Red Hook was held as planned and many turned out to participate.

It is hard to believe this beautifully restored 1750 building was in a state of disrepair until it was rescued by a group called "The Friend of the Elmendorph " in the 1970's.
Today you can view many old photographs and artifacts of the area here. This building is also put to good use by various groups in the community.
The latest usage will be for a winter market. So what makes up this winter market?

The snow on Thursday came down quickly, it was light and looked like a winter wonderland. Schools were closed so parents had to spend the day entertaining the children.
Because the snow was so light it was an easy clean up.
