hyde park ny: Take a tour of the Culinary Institute of America in Historic Hyde Park NY - 04/02/12 07:22 PM
A couple of days ago I posted a photo of the fountain at the Culinary institute of America and promised to follow up with a video.  In the process of making the video, I suddenly remembered that this was one of the last places I toured with my dad before he passed away a few years ago.  This brought back so many memories and I suspect the Culinary Institute of America will always be special to me.

If you look closely in the background  you will spot the Culinary institute of  America in Hyde Park.   I was down near the Hudson River taking a few shots when I noticed these pillars.  I never did find out the story behind them but I will be asking.  Anyway after I took the shot I saw my shadow was included so that is how I came up with the title for this post

hyde park ny: What happened in the real estate market in Hyde Park NY August 2011 - 09/12/11 11:20 PM
I have been writing for sometime that the Hyde Park New York market offers  great real estate value, and its location to the Metro-North train station in Poughkeepsie makes it ideal for  commuting.  It was nice to see a recent article in the NY times confirming this.
So what happened in the real estate market in Hyde Park NY in August 2011?
8 homes sold ranging in price from $110,000 - $1,135,250.  The oldest was built in 1900 and was just about 1400 square feet, and the newest was the house for over a million dollars with Hudson River views and over 4000 … (5 comments)

HYDE PARK NY MARKET REPORT FOR NOVEMBER 2010
During November, 8 Hyde Park NY homes sold ranging from $66,000-$400,000.  How did this compare to the same time last year?  There were 4 more Hyde Park homes sold in November 2009
At present there are 8 homes with offers and 2 in contract so it is possible that the December sales could be about the same or higher.
What are some of the reasons people buy homes in Hyde Park?  The Culinary Institute of America is located in Hyde Park,  Marist and Vassar College are in nearby Pougkeepsie and most of the County jobs … (8 comments)

Hyde Park New York A Very Historic Town And A Popular Place to Buy A Home
Hyde park is a historic town in Dutchess County New York.  It lies between two other historic towns, Poughkeepsie and Rhinebeck.
Every year this town attracts many tourists.  It is known world wide because this is the home of the FDR Presidential Library.  President Franklin Roosevelt was the first president to make arrangements for his papers to be preserved in an organized way.  The 16 acre site was donated by his family and he was instrumental in the design of the building which was completed in 1940.
