Each year the Old Dutch Village Garden Club hold an annual plant and bake sale, so come out and get some new  and interesting plants for your garden.
This year the sale will be on May 20th at 9:00 AM in the Memorial Park in Red Hook.  The plants comes from the gardens of the members of the club.   Proceeds from the sale is used to fund projects such as a scholarship to a Red Hook High School Senior.

The Old Dutch Village Garden Club located in Red Hook is off to a great start in 2011.  Just last month there was an interesting and informative talk on garden tools by Nick Digugno, a new member.   Nick also provided a handout for attendees which will be a handy reference during the gardening season.
 
Here are examples of upcoming events.

Each year the Old Dutch Village Garden Club provides a schedule of events for the year.  If you are a garden lover this is something you look forward to.
Last month the topic was bees and their benefits.  This was a rather interesting topic and I left the session feeling sorry for the Drone Bee; other members were inspired to get their own hives.

I managed to fit in the February 12th Garden Club meeting into my schedule; the topic that day was Bonsai.  Although I love gardening, that is one aspect I never thought I would want to try.  The Presenter was Michael Devlin whose talk and show and tell kept us all engaged.  He brought in several different creations - one he had nurtured for 40 years.
He started out by stating that Bonsai should not be given as a gift to extremely busy people and I suppose that's a category I am in.

This is a very focused group with several objectives. 
1.  Yearly plant and bake sale fund-raiser
2.   Yearly scholarship to a high school student
3.   Maintenance and beautification of local parks . 
The Old Dutch Village Garden Club meets in Red Hook NY every second Thursday of the month,  dessert, coffee and tea is always provided, members take turn to see to this.  For the edification of the members several topics are covered yearly.  Below you will find the highlights.

old dutchess village garden club: Perserving Your Favorite Flowers - Old Dutch Village Garden Club - 09/16/07 10:03 PM
I previously wrote about the Old Dutch Village Garden Club.  This is an active club in Red Hook New York and anyone who has interest in gardening is welcomed.  I attended the September event which was about the perservation of foliage.
A couple of the ladies were former school teachers so for an hour I felt like I was back in school.  Several methods of preserving flowers and leaves were discussed.  There was also an exhibit of items made from preserved foliage.
