red hook ny: Is there Soccer in Red Hook NY - 09/10/11 11:51 PM
Is there Soccer in Red Hook NY?
Where I grew up soccer was the number one sport although it was referred to as football.  It caught on in the US much later than in other parts of  the world. So is there Soccer in Red Hook NY?  I can answer yes because when I go down Rockefeller Lane I often see children of all ages playing and the parents cheering them on.
When  there is soccer around you will always find a soccer club and there is a Red Hook Soccer Club.  The club plans the intramural games and makes arrangements for travel and competition.

Speechless Sunday-Dusk at Poet's Walk in Red Hook NY
Yesterday the weather was great, so after dining we decided to go for a walk at nearby Poet's Walk.  On the trails we saw may who had similar ideas.
Poet's Walk is one of the many parks along the Hudson River operated by Scenic Hudson.  This is a park where your appreciation for the natural environment can grow.  A place where you will never grow tired of taking photographs.
We enjoyed the walk and loved seeing the Kingston Rhinecliff Bridge, the Hudson River and Catskill Mountains at dusk.
It would have been … (17 comments)

Speechless Sunday-Red Sumac
A few days ago I had to be present at one of my listings for a showing.  I personally like to give the buyer's agent space so I stayed outside during the showing.  I walked around the yard and took a few pictures but then I got bored until a bit of red in the bushes caught my eye.  Upon closer examination I identified it as Red Sumac.  Do you know why it is call Red Sumac?  like most people you are thinking it is because of the fruit; that is not the case, the name is related to how the … (9 comments)

red hook ny: Speechless Sunday- Japanese Irises - 05/16/10 07:06 PM
Last week I posted photos of my bearded lady Irises and then, a few days later, my Japanese Irises, which are my personal favorite, started blooming.

There are still many blooms to go, and I am grateful for this; you see my mom will be in town at the end of this week and she will find these delightful.

Have a great week,  and take a few moments each day to appreciate the spring colors. This can surely bring a smile to your face.

Bard College  the Annandale-on-Hudson Community in Red Hook NY
The private liberal arts college, Bard is located in the Annandale-On-Hudson community in the town of Red Hook, NY.
Bard was originally founded in 1860 and was then known as St. Stephens College.
The college's  history is well documented and does make a good read.
This Annandale-on-Hudson community is a very interesting place, however this blog post will concentrate on the impact it has on the entire Red Hook Community.
I consider Red Hook more of a bedroom community since most of the residents have to go some place else for work.  The … (6 comments)

Last Chance to Visit the Red Hook Winter Market at the Elmendorph
I really hate to see the Red Hook winter market come to an end.  But it was a terrific season!  For the last few months I have reminded everyone about the event and  I watched the attendance increased month over month.  It was also a pleasure sharing pictures of each event especially since the displays were nicely done.
This Saturday March 13th from 11:00AM- 2:00PM at the Elmendorph in Red Hook is your last chance to participate in this wonderful event.
I have had fun getting to know the vendors, and I had the opportunity to  sampled many of … (6 comments)

red hook ny: Speechless Sunday - What a difference a season makes - 01/03/10 11:07 AM

This is a small lake in Upper Red Hook in New York.  Along the banks can be found vacation homes and during the summer you will see people out on the lake in row boats.
Here on Spring Lake during the winter when the lake is frozen I have seen people ice fishing or just walking across the ice, something I could never do because I remember the surface was water just weeks ago.
