snow: Raking the snow off the roof is that a good idea? - 02/05/11 11:54 PM
Raking the snow off the roof is a question confronting many in the Northeast and other parts of the country this winter.  So many roofs have several feet of snow and ice combined.
This is one of those question that has never been resolved for me.   So what is your opinion?
One thing I know is that sellers of roof rakes should be doing a brisk business this winter.
Here is one way not to clean snow off your roof

snow: Wordless Wednesday-Snow High Above the Hudson River - 12/29/10 10:26 PM

Snow high above the Hudson River was what I saw today.  It started with a request to show one of my Rhinebeck listings.  I was about to give the okay to show when I suddenly remembered the Blizzard from earlier in the week, so I decided to go check on the property.
I had a lunch date with my daughter so I had to make sure this was okay with her especially since she was doing the driving.  We got to the property and I was delighted to see the driveway was plowed. Then I saw this scene which I found … (23 comments)

snow: Speechless Sunday - Snow at sunrise - 12/06/09 04:57 PM
The first snowfall was such a pleasure, and I managed to enjoy it at different stages.
First I watched it fall and then I took pictures when it got dark.  This morning was exciting. I was just expecting to take more pictures and then I saw the moon, but, there was more. Next, came sunrise and I watched the effect of the sunlight on the snow.
This first snowfall reminded me why I love each season.

It is important to provide access to buyers but only if the conditions are right.
Here are a few steps to take before agreeing to a showing during the winter months.
Shovel or plow your driveway or path to the door. You might need to apply salt or similar products to the driveway to keep it free of ice.  The forecast for tomorrow is for lower temperatures, some wind and icy … (20 comments)

snow: Where Did The Snow Go? - 01/31/07 10:03 PM

Last night we had a dusting of snow, and you might be wondering why that would be of interest.   The fact is, I live in the Northeast and today is the last day of January and this is all the snow we have gotten so far.
This strange weather has resulted in plants blooming early and even as late as two weeks ago I noticed birds of various types and colors hanging around.  Normally these birds would have made their way south for the winter.
Humans were also affected, already many seem to be suffering from the hayfever which usually occurs around … (6 comments)
