speechless sunday: Speechless Sunday | Crying out for help - 02/26/12 07:42 PM
Crying out for help Today I had my hands filled with towels as I headed for the laundry room. On the way I kicked over a plant, what bad timing. I really did not have the time for the mess. There was dirt all over the floor and in the rug. Well I couldn't just leave it, so I dropped the laundry and bend over to take a closer look. I discovered that the plant was badly in need of water and had outgrown the pot. Oh! maybe I was tripped by the plant it was crying out for help.

speechless sunday: Speechless Sunday |Misty Morning - 02/05/12 11:38 PM
Misty Morning I was on my way to put signs up on a parcel of land I had listed when I ran across the morning mist. There is always something intriguing about going through the mist, and down this country road there was much to see. When I came to this barn with the beautiful landscape behind it I just had to stop and take a shot, this was my favorite scene of that misty morning.

speechless sunday: Speechless Sunday|The Outhouse - 01/15/12 11:45 PM
Living in the Hudson Valley I run across buildings from other periods. Over the years of have seen a variety of outhouses. Some were ornate and other were just plain. The one in the photography was on the grounds of Cedar Grove one of the many Historic sites to be found in the area. I must say the colors certainly make you take a second look,

speechless sunday: Barn | Speechless Sunday - 12/19/11 12:00 AM
I can never resist taking photos of barns. I like ones that are perfectly restored however my favorite subjects are the broken down ones. Because agriculture was and still is a major player in the Hudson Valley economy you will find all types in the region. I have seen barns converted into homes, rental apartments, studios, offices, and space for events such as weddings. Lets not forget the orignal purpose of these barns to house animals, hay and grains.

speechless sunday: Speechless Sunday|Walking Log - 10/09/11 08:36 PM
I spotted this walking log on a train ride in the Berkshires on Saturday. I was hoping for more color but it just wasn't to be found, so I decided to make the best of things by focusing on and photographing the things I passed along the way. I saw the log in the distance and was delighted I was able to capture it from the moving train. My interpretation of this scene is a log about to walk across a stream. What I like about a photograph or a painting is that each person can have a different interpretation. So, what comes to mind when

speechless sunday: Speechless Sunday|No Fingers and toes and you cross the Atlantic in a boat? - 10/02/11 05:21 PM
I don't know how much I would accomplished without fingers and toes. On a recent trip to Gloucester MA I came across this plaque which left me speechless. A certain Captain Blackburn took not one but two trips across the Atlantic although he had no fingers and toes. I found this such an inspirational story. Would you cross the Atlantic in a boat if you had no fingers and toes?

speechless sunday: Speechless Sunday-Apples - 09/04/11 07:48 PM
I decided on apples for my Speechless Sunday. Why? Because an apple is a fruit that almost everyone is familiar with, either in the form of baby food, pies, or salads, you name it. Apples come in many varieties. It is estimated that world wide there are over 7,500 varieties. Here are more apple facts. Did you know that New York State is the second largest producer of apples? That will come as a surprise to many who might think of New York as the land of Skyscrapers. Actually, the state has a vast amount of farmland. So, apples happen to be an important part

speechless sunday: Speechless Sunday an open septic tank - 08/21/11 11:19 PM
Dealing with a septic system is something most of us would rather not have to do. Ignoring it could be rather costly. Here is an open septic tank. Tomorrow I will tell you more about a septic system, and show you a video of one being pumped. I recently was at an inspection where the septic failed, this could have been avoided CLICK TO READ POST ON WHY MAINTAINING YOUR SEPTIC SYSTEM IS IMPORTANT

speechless sunday: Speechless Sunday-Pamela's Java Hut - 08/07/11 11:58 PM
Recently I was at an inspection near Fishkill and I was really looking around for a place to catch a quick bite. I saw Pamela's Java Hut and decided to go inside because of the decoration. The palms tree and hut made me think of the Caribbean, then when I entered the music was also Caribbean. Now I can't remember what I ate but it was good. So if you are in Fishkill and looking for a quick bite or a cup of coffee or tea Pamela's Java Hut is a good choice. Funny, you never know what might be a

speechless sunday: Speechless Sunday-Would you trust this lifeguard? - 07/31/11 09:14 PM
Based on the definition of a lifeguard, one who looks out for the safety of swimmers and arranges for rescue, do you think you fit that bill? Why should I put my life in your hands or rather wings? I realize you are perched high and are at least looking in the right direction. But, how would you handle lifting me out of the water or administering a mouth to mouth resuscitation? After careful consideration I think I will take a pass on this beach.

speechless sunday: Speechless Sunday-Do Not Disturb - 06/05/11 09:41 PM
Recently I was looking at my plants when I noticed a spider sitting on one of my sedum. Unfortunately for him he forgot to put out the DO Not Disturb sign. So, I took out my camera and started taking a couple of shots. He was not pleased and so quickly scurried away. I suppose he was trespassing by landing on my plant, so, I was in the clear:) Copyright © by Jennifer Fivelsdal, all rights reserved-Speechless Sunday-Do Not Disturb

speechless sunday: Speechless Sunday-An Iris - 05/29/11 07:13 AM
Yesterday I wrote a post entitled "Do you look below the surface?" using an unopened Iris. I promised that for Speechless Sunday I would show what was below the surface of that Iris, so here goes: Yes that unopened Iris was not as attractive, especially for someone who might not know what an opened Iris looked like. For us who knew better we would have expected to see this awesome show of colors in days. Copyright © by Jennifer Fivelsdal, all rights reserved-Speechless Sunday-An Iris

There are so many reasons why spring is special. Today while at my Rhinebeck open house I found one such reason. Sitting on the deck I could see and hear the birds chirping, and looking around I saw this rather stunning flower. I ran for the camera and I was please to see it looked as good in the photo. What a stunning flower! Copyright © by Jennifer Fivelsdal, all rights reserved-Speechless Sunday-One of the many reasons I love Spring

speechless sunday: Speechless Sunday-Shadow - 05/15/11 11:51 PM
As a child I was intriqued by my shadow I even tried to catchup to it. I can remember killing time by making all sorts of shadow design on the wall. I think this is something most kids do or am I mistaken? :) Copyright © by Jennifer Fivelsdal, all rights reserved- Speechless Sunday Shadow

speechless sunday: Speechless Sunday - Focus - 04/03/11 11:35 PM
Focus is an ingredient necessary for success. I observed the photo of this cat and could tell he was very focused; maybe it was play time with a friend or time for a favorite treat. The same type of focus is necessary in our business activities if we hope to reach our goals. So remain focused whether in business or your personal life. speechless sunday: Speechless Sunday-The Rebel Butterfly - 03/27/11 07:52 PM
The Rebel Butterfly Some of us follow the crowd while others chart their own course. Here this butterfly is a bit of a rebel; instead of visting flowers in bloom, like butterfly bushes he decided to go for a walk on a railing, maybe to clear his head, so many blooms to choose from. speechless sunday: Speechless Sunday-Color my world - 02/13/11 09:47 PM
If you have been to a tropical island somewhere, somehow you would have encountered a splash of vibrant colors. Have you ever wondered what the world would be like without color? I sure want my world full of colors. On a trip to the Caribbean I saw this flower and I was attracted to it because of what I saw in the background, I thought what a great contrast. This post will take me over the 700,000 milestone and I wanted to let you all know how much I appreciated the contribution you have made to my world. Thank you AR network for a splash of

speechless sunday: Speechless Sunday-I am never tired of you - 01/30/11 07:39 PM
This afternoon I had a few appointments, all in all it was a very productive afternoon. Heading home a little after 5PM I saw the colors and sun shining on the snow through the trees. Since I am am never tired of sunsets I pulled over. I was so disappointed when my camera would not stay on, maybe it was cold. Then I remembered the cellphone and I was delighted that I was able to capture this late January Sunset. Yes I am never tired of you.
