wordless wednesday photo: Time for a picnic with a view or is it? - 03/18/12 07:16 PM
Time for a picnic with a view, or is it?  I was visiting someone whose house is perched on the top of a hill, and had spectacular views of the Catskill Mountains.  Yes, there are so many scenic spots in the Hudson Valley.
On my way down the hill I passed this picnic table, and I couldn't help noticing the wonderful view.  Wow! it must be time for a picnic with an awesome view.  I reminded myself that it was still March, and usually the weather is cold and could even be snowy, but today it was about 70 degrees. However, I … (20 comments)

wordless wednesday photo: Wordless Wednesday Art - 03/14/12 08:26 PM
Usually I can come up with a clever title but tonight nothing came to mind.  These were pieces of artwork I saw at a park.  Looks like just painted wood to me.  On closer examination the red one seem to be bell bottom pants, no thoughts on the white one, and the black looks like remnant from a fire. So what is your take on these pieces of artwork?

wordless wednesday photo: Wordless Wednesday | It snowed today - 02/29/12 08:58 PM

That's right it snowed today in Dutchess County NY.  Very little snow all this winter but February decided it was going out with a bang.
Just when we thought we could put away those shovels; a little reminder that winter is not yet over.  Then there is March, that can be a wild one you just never know what to expect.
Okay so I had to make sure a driveway was plowed for an inspection tomorrow.  Seller make sure you clean off your driveway if you have scheduled showings.

wordless wednesday photo: Wordless Wednesday- Overkill? - 02/22/12 06:24 PM
Overkill? I will be the first to admit I know very little about cars and trucks, I just want the one I am in to work.
To this novice eyes this looks like overkill, and I am expecting the car enthusiast to chime in.  This is a photo of an auto show held at the Dutchess County Fairgrounds in Rhinebeck NY.  The guys were all busy showing off their toys so that could explain the overkill.

wordless wednesday photo: Wordless Wednesday| Early spring please - 02/15/12 08:30 PM
Very little snow in the Northeast this winter.  A big saving for municipalities already struggling with their budgets and it would have been a saving for consumers if the price of heating oil had not gone up.  Bad news for those depending on snow for a substantial part of their income.
And then there is me.  I should be happy this unusual weather is producing higher temperature , yes that's good.  My issue is; everything looks so dull, and I really missed the snow since it would change the landscape.  Fresh fallen snow is so beautiful that is until I have to … (21 comments)

Wordless Wednesday|All Alone
I saw this silo on my way back from a closing yesterday, and it got my attention because it was all alone in a field. I suspect at one time it was once surrounded by other buildings, and grains and feed was stored there.
Now it stands all alone in this field with just weeds, and invasive vines around.
Hopefully in business you are not standing alone but rather surrounding yourself with a network. I suspect for members of ActiveRain standing alone is not an option.

wordless wednesday photo: Wordless Wednesday | The Sunsetting in Red Hook - 12/28/11 07:19 PM
You might have a long stressful day however most days if you stop for a moment and take a look at the evening sky there is a treat for you.  Some days the colors are vibrant other days a bit subtle , but there is always something there to wash all your cares away if just for a moment.
Do you make a point of looking at the sky?  If not you should.
This photo is of  a scene of the sun setting in Red Hook today.

wordless wednesday photo: What can 25 cents buy you today? | Wordless Wednesday - 11/30/11 08:59 PM
Times have changed.  Can you believe how far you could stretch 25 cents years ago?  Now you probably can't buy a stick of gum for that sum.
The photo references the Rhinebeck Hotel which was later renamed to the Beekman Arms, the oldest continously operated Inn in the country.
Looks like back when the hotel was called the Rhinebeck Hotel your horse could have a good meal or a real comfortable place to spend the night for only 25 cents.
So seriously, what can you buy with 25 cents these days?
