montgomery: Septa Stike over but a fare hike is on its way it seems. - 11/12/09 10:56 AM
Fresh off the heels of the City Septa workers strike and now that buses, subways, and trolleys are running again , SEPTA riders can brace for the next big event: a rate increase. SEPTA is Philadelphia's transit system. SEPTA has been planning to increase fares in 2010 ever since it last boosted them in 2007. Raises likely would be scheduled to take effect around July 1, the start of the agency's 2011 fiscal year. SEPTA won't say how much fares may go up. But

montgomery: November 30th Deadline on 2009 Tax Credit for Buyers: Bucks County - 08/11/09 03:22 PM
With the $8,000 tax credit scheduled to end Nov. 30, the number of home buyers looking to take advantage of the credit (as well as the historically low prices and low interest rates) could possibly increase as the year winds down, especially as we start seeing glimmers of an economic upturn for the real estate market. If you’ve been waiting for the right window of opportunity to put your home on the market, this might be the time. I’d be happy to answer any questions you might have. Feel free to call me or email me any time. For more information

montgomery: Five Things That Can't Be Trashed or Recycled - 04/09/09 08:04 AM
Five Things That Can't Be Trashed or RecycledWondering what to do with the cans of unneeded paint or your stash of old batteries taking up space in your house and garage? You know you shouldn't throw them out, but it really is time to get rid of them. Resist the temptation to toss them in the trash anyway. The reason: They (and everything on the list below) contain toxic chemicals capable of contaminating the environment if not disposed of properly.Unlike items that are picked up at the curb, you'll have to make a special effort to unload these ones responsibly. But,

montgomery: Rates on 30-year mortgages fell recently - 04/03/09 09:58 AM
Rates on 30-year mortgages fell recently to the lowest level on record after the Federal Reserve launched a new effort to stimulate the struggling U.S. housing market. Mortgage finance giant Freddie Mac said Thursday that average rates on 30-year fixed-rate mortgages dropped to 4.85% last week, from 4.98% the previous week. This was the lowest in the history of Freddie Mac's survey, which dates back to 1971, and was down a full percentage point from a year ago. These are truly historic times and they present a great opportunity to anyone who is thinking of buying. If you or

montgomery: Federal Reserve Surprises Financial Markets - 03/19/09 12:47 PM
Federal Reserve Surprises Financial Markets Here we go again, with the talking heads on financial news misinterpreting the impact of the Fed's actions on home loan rates. Here's the scoop. What the Fed just announced is huge – they have committed to buy another $750B in Mortgage Backed Securities, and $300B in Treasuries. But what does this mean and why do you care? Their actions provide a demand for Mortgage Backed Securities, which should help keep a ceiling on home loan rates moving much higher in the foreseeable future. That's good news, for homebuyers who are seeing
