29 of the 53 were bank owned, 55% of the sales being REO is down from the previous 90 days at 68% REO when the median price was $129,500.
Hopefully the prices will continue to stabalize and the REO sales will stop driving the prices down. There are currently 16 active bank owned properties in Crestline, still plenty of opportunity to buy a dream cabin at a fraction of the cost.

market: Appraisers getting strict, it's good...and bad - 10/14/08 04:21 PM

Wow, the guidelines must be getting more strict! I know this is a good thing, but I just had an appraiser call me and tell me they didn't think they could find comps for this hugely overbuilt 4 car garage house! It's an REO! It's a good deal, I swear...
So I sent her what comps I could come up with but since it is overbuilt clearly there isn't anything as large as this home. I'm thinking, "Smaller homes sell for more, but this home can't be comped??". I get that the lenders are tightening up (a little late!) on … (2 comments)

market: Real estate paid my mortgage - again! - 10/09/08 03:36 PM

Another first of the month has come and gone and it's another month where I made my mortgage payment based solely on commissions earned. No big deal, right? It is, after all, my job.
I am embarrassed to say, we don't have a large savings account. For the past 4 years, we have used all of our "extra" money to fix up and add on to our home. We (like a lot of Americans) thought that adding equity to our home was a GOOD investment.
