Yes, ever since 2000 Florida has been home to the Sri Lanka Weevil, starting in Broward County. Being a Peninsula, we are subject to invasions of organisms that blow by during major storms, like what they see (or taste!) and take up "residence." This beetle pest, which has its mouthparts at the end of a snout (hence, it is a weevil), feeds in rather jagged patterns, usually between leaf veins.
I maintain that one should not run for the closest "Raid Can" as the damage is modest and within the handling-capability of most, if not all, plant species and varieties.

Below on Left: a Pair of the Weevils (about 1/4 inch long)...on right: typical damage caused by these weevils! Tree will recover, though, and makes for a 'conversation-piece' in the yard!
