activerain: Who sees the short URL? And where? - 10/19/11 08:03 PM
Who sees the short URL, and where? I've been using the short URL because it's easier to use the short URL to send someone to one of my blog posts. I can even memorize the short URL! I'm curious as to what other purpose it has, though. When I look at my statistics I see that people are clicking on the short URL: How are people finding the short URL? I can't find that it's showing up anywhere other than at the bottom of my post, and I am having a hard time imagining someone finding my post, reading

activerain: Does your blog need to lose weight? - 03/14/11 06:48 PM
Does your blog need to lose weight? During my ActiveRain reading and commenting, I always noticed that most blog posts were skinny, unlike mine which was fat. Yesterday evening I asked for help in one of my blog posts to help my blog lose some weight. While I was waiting on help, I decided to explore some of the ActiveRain stuff that I've never looked at, and that's when I discovered the solution. It was the first thing I looked at! Murphy's law said it would be the last. My blog is now skinny, but Marc Swartz, who commented on

activerain: Can someone help me with the width of my blog? - 03/13/11 10:59 PM
Can someone help me with the size of my blog? I've noticed that my blog is really wide and most other blogs are narrower. I find it difficult to read my own blog which is why I always put lots of pictures at the right side. Sometimes pictures are hard to come by and I'd like to just post something short without having to try to find pictures to make the text area skinnier. Can someone tell me why my blog is wide and how to make it skinnier like other blogs? Even my marketing guru doesn't know what's going

activerain: Business & Marketing: Are you neglecting the people in your own area? - 08/06/10 09:12 PM
Along with persistent and consistent blogging for your prospective Clients, be sure to visit the ActiveRain members (real estate agents, mortgage lenders, stagers, home inspectors) in your area and leave comments on their ActiveRain blogs. Show your knowledge and personality in your blog posts and when those people come by to comment on your blog posts, they will be impressed. Eventually, you'll start getting business from those ActiveRain members, creating a mutually beneficial relationship.

activerain: If you no longer got points for reblogging, would you still reblog? - 08/01/10 02:22 PM
I know there are more than just a few people who accumulate points simply by reblogging other people. I've always considered it an honor when someone reblogs a post of mine, but I don't think I've ever had more than one or two posts reblogged. Maybe that says something about the quality of my writing and my posts. ☺ Anyways.... Each time the new month starts, I always wonder what new and interesting things ActiveRain will come up with to punish those who work the system and to help those who want to get more business. Apparently, as of

activerain: Whatever happened to the daily ActiveRain email newsletter? - 06/01/10 09:29 PM
Does anyone know what happened to the daily ActiveRain email newsletter? I enjoyed getting it every day, but I just realized it hasn't arrived in at least a month. I don't know whether it was dropped because of the time required to fix the proxy errors and bad gateways, or whether all the ActiveRain time is being devoted to Raincamps. Anyway, I'd like to see it come back. ♫♪♫♫♪♫ If you're looking for a great San Diego Realtor, well, let me Google one for you. I'm available 24/7, so feel free to contact me by phone or email. activerain: ActiveRain: Fun, friends, knowledge, problems, and, of course, points - 05/29/10 11:57 PM
When my marketing guru/favorite home inspector/husband suggested that I join ActiveRain, blog, read, and comment, my first reaction was, "Huh?" Since I joined, I've become somewhat addicted to the system. It's fun, has provided me with lots of new friendships (even if many of them are still virtual), has taught me a lot, and has allowed me to contribute to my profession. Does it have problems? Sure. Some of them have recently been talked about in a Featured Post by Glenn Roberts titled Good Points from ActiveRain. I'm not one to get involved in controversies about anything. I just think controversies bring

activerain: Returning comment for comment - 02/23/10 08:33 AM
I'm one of those weird people who makes a great effort to return comment for comment. You comment here, I visit your place and comment. It normally is an easy system. I usually also get an email notification when a comment shows up in any blog post. Lately, the ActiveRain system is not working so well. Many comment notifications are not showing up on my home page nor am I getting many of the email notifications. I will endeavour to keep track when I answer comments in my posts, but if I miss you, please come back and let me know.

activerain: Announcing the ActiveRain Silver and Bronze medalists! - 01/09/10 10:15 AM
Brad Andersohn recently announced the ActiveRain Gold Medal winners for having the most points in their field. I'm a big fan of persistency and consistency, but I'm also a fan of spreading the wealth around, rooting for the underdog, and watching the Olympics. Since the 2010 Winter Olympics are just a few weeks away, I thought it would be fun to look at the ActiveRain Silver and Bronze Medal winners for having the most points in their field. First, check out the ActiveRain Gold Medal winners, and then come back to read about, and visit, the ActiveRain Silver and Bronze Medal

activerain: You, too, can Play in the Rain naked! - 12/09/09 08:45 AM
I spend a lot of time at ActiveRain. A co-worker recently asked me to tell him in one sentence why I liked ActiveRain. I came up with one sentence, but it was 259 words long and had a lot of dashes and semicolons, so I thought I would try to shorten it. Here's what I came up with: ActiveRain provides me with the platform where I can work hard to get new business, and once I've acquired that new business, the same platform allows me to play hard, and you know that I like to work hard and play hard. I

activerain: Can a business prevent you from blogging about them? - 08/09/09 12:42 AM
I've been trying to find a small business that doesn't already have an online presence and those I patronize already are online. I've been wanting to get involved in Bob Stewart's small business blogging challenge. Today I finally found one. It's a business that my marketing guru and I have been patronizing for the last 15 years. I walked in, introduced myself, told the daughter of the owner what I would like to do for them, and she gave me a qualified "yes" since she would have to check with dad. I interviewed the daughter and walked around and took lots
