computers: Ah, new stuff - 08/11/10 09:34 PM
Ah, new stuff I made a trip to Fry's Electronics this morning because two things were on sale that I've wanted for a couple of months now. That, of course, means that Zoey the Cool Cat will be occupied for the next couple of hours. The three boxes were on the bed for no more than ten seconds when she had to check them out, seeming to know from way out in the garage that there were new boxes somewhere in the house. The smell of those new boxes caused her to come a-runnin', tail way up in the air.

computers: Make every Friday "Backup Friday" - 09/26/08 05:49 PM
Many of my friends consider me lucky because I've only had one hard drive crash with my computers, and in that one I only lost about 10% of my data, none of it really critical to my operations. I have my computer set to do automatic daily backups of just the new and changed files. On Friday, I have it set to do a ghost backup of my complete internal hard drive to an external hard drive. Although hard drives are much more dependable than they were 20 years ago, and while you might think that a hard drive crash
