The East County Homeownership Fair will be held in El Cajon on Saturday, January 16, for homeowners and those wanting to buy a home. It will be at the Ronald Reagan Community Center at 95 E. Douglas Ave. from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Admission is FREE.
There will be information and workshops on foreclosure prevention, down-payment assistance, home buying, and financial literacy. Workshop facilitators, counselors, and exhibitors will come from the real estate, lending, real estate counseling, foreclosure prevention, and tax professions.

It's time to rev the engines for the summer "Cajon Classic Cruise" car shows that take place on Wednesdays in downtown El Cajon from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Admission is free, and each week features a different theme.
Each Wednesday night brings about 10,000 people to downtown El Cajon for music by Dr. DJ and All Around Mobile Music, weekly tropies, and prize drawings. The Cajon Classic Cruise features hundreds of classic, custom, and hot rod cars as well as "Bike Row" motorcycles in a street festival setting.

Summer means "Concerts on the Green" in downtown El Cajon at the Prescott Promenade, Main Street between Magnolia Avenue and Claydelle Avenue.
Shows are on Fridays starting at 6:00 p.m. and ending at 8:00 p.m.
Now in its ninth year, "Concerts on the Green" is sponsored by the El Cajon Development Corporation. Concerts are free, but bench seating is limited, so bring your own chair or blanket.
Food and drinks are allowed, but you can also enjoy the concert and dinner at several restaurants surrounding the park that have outdoor patio seating.

Customers of the Otay Water District apparently have been so successful at voluntarily conserving water that the District voted recently to stay with a Level 1 drought alert instead of moving to a Level 2 drought alert.
A Level 1 drought alert depends on people voluntarily conserving water, like showering with a buddy instead of alone -- LOL.
A Level 2 drought alert mandates certain restrictions, like not washing the car by hand in the driveway, cutting down on landscape watering, etc.
