Summer means "Concerts on the Green" in downtown El Cajon at the Prescott Promenade, Main Street between Magnolia Avenue and Claydelle Avenue. Shows are on Fridays starting at 6:00 p.m. and ending at 8:00 p.m. Now in its ninth year, "Concerts on the Green" is sponsored by the El Cajon Development Corporation. Customers of the Otay Water District apparently have been so successful at voluntarily conserving water that the District voted recently to stay with a Level 1 drought alert instead of moving to a Level 2 drought alert. A Level 1 drought alert depends on people voluntarily conserving water, like showering with a buddy instead of alone -- LOL. With so many cities having budget problems, our public services are under attack, with budget cuts affecting police and fire fighter services, libraries, schools, after-school programs, sports, and music. It's important in this type of economy that everyone work together to help protect their cities, communities, and neighborhoods, and that's where Neighborhood Watch programs can help.
