Yesterday I checked on our baby flamingos at the San Diego Zoo.
There are still four chicks, but they are growing like weeds.
What I found interesting from this visit is that all four of these little ones have already had their wings clipped. Maybe that's why they are practicing standing on one leg:

Springtime at the San Diego Zoo and its sister facility, the Wild Animal Park, means that there are a few indications here and there that some new life is on its way.
A new baby elephant joined the herd out at the Wild Animal Park but I haven't made it out there to see it yet since it's about 45 miles from me.
However, over at the San Diego Zoo, which is just 10 miles from me, the flamingos at Flamingo Lagoon are having quite a good time building their nests, which are a mixture of mud and flamingo poop. The … (16 comments)
