Be careful when you'reout and about this holiday season
I think traffic today was the worst I've ever experienced during the holiday season. I came close to being involved in two wrecks from people going way to fast for traffic conditions. If you don't like the traffic, then shop from home on the Internet.
The foolishness of others driving 4,000-lb automobiles at excessive speeds can put a sad and deadly spin on what is supposed to be a joyous season.
There will be other parking spots if someone gets that one before you.

holiday safety: As we head into Christmas week and New Year's week, DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE! - 12/20/09 09:07 PM
When I was a freshman at the University of Redlands, one of the guys that I was fast becoming friends with was killed during the Christmas holidays by a drunk driver. That was back in 1978. Since then I've been very careful when I go out and think that I might be drinking.
I'm not one to get drunk anyway — my first Mardi Gras is the only time I ever got drunk — but I don't know how much alcohol my body can absorb before my blood alcohol would register .08, and I would prefer not to find out.
