mission valley: Mission Valley, San Diego, California: The central location of Mission Valley makes it a great place to live and work! - 07/07/10 09:48 AM
The central location of Mission Valley makes it a great place to work and live!

Mission Valley has been a significant part of San Diego ever since 1769, when the first California mission, Mission San Diego de Alcala, was located there. Even before that, though, the Kumeyaay Indians lived in the area for more than 10,000 years. Most of the area was dairy farms and other agricultural activites up until the end of World War II in 1945, when San Diego began expanding. The last farm closed in the early 1960s.
Mission Valley development began in earnest in 1953, when the … (8 comments)

Sidewalks in and of themselves don't make a city walkable. Because of it's topography, San Diego is not the most walkable city I've visited. However, there are many areas of San Diego that are walkable, such as the beaches, Mission Valley, and downtown at the waterfront.
I enjoy a weekly walk along the waterfront just to see what cruise ships are in town, what war ships are docked at the Coronao Naval Air Station, and what new … (8 comments)

San Diego County's largest, most prestigious, and most popular mall is Fashion Valley Shopping Center, and it's located at the western end of Mission Valley in the heart of San Diego.
It was renovated and expanded back in the late 1990s, with a huge transit station being built to handle traffic from busses and the San Diego Trolley. Three huge, multi-story parking garages were also built.
All of Mission Valley is a flood plain for the San Diego River, but the river, for the most part, is controlled. However, there are times with an El Niño winter season arrives and brings … (9 comments)

A couple of months ago I had the pleasure of meeting Dennis Volz, a State Farm Insurance agent and member of ActiveRain. I was even able to send him some business, but since the purchase didn't go through, I guess he didn't get to write a policy. I'll keep trying though.
Dennis sends out the best, most informative post cards. Always something good. One of the best listed all the dog beaches and parks in San Diego County. Since many people living in Mission Valley condos have dogs, I thought my blog would be a great place to put a list … (7 comments)

mission valley: Mission Valley condos, San Diego CA: This dog probably doesn't qualify for your condo companion - 08/30/09 10:36 AM
The world's tallest dog died a couple of weeks ago from bone cancer. Gibson, a Harlequin Great Dane from Grass Valley, California, measured in at 42.2 inches at the shoulder.
Titan, a Great Dane from North Park, right here in San Diego, California, is poised to ascend to the throne as the world's tallest dog, measuring in at 42.375 inches during a "dry run" a week ago. With a name like Titan, it's obvious he's a natural.

This is the sixth in my "Condo living" series. To find previous posts in the series, simply click here.
Parking in Mission Valley condo complexes, Mission Valley, San Diego, and California is a source of contention, and probably will remain so for the foreseeable future.
Some condominium complexes offer underground secured parking, individual garage parking, community garage parking, tandem garage parking, carport parking, and sometimes street parking, although I'm not aware of any Mission Valley condo complexes that rely solely on street parking.
Generally, you'll get at least one reserved parking space when you buy a condominium. Some will also provide you with a Visitor … (3 comments)

While living in your Mission Valley condo has many benefits, such as little or no maintenance, it has its own set of problems that one has to be aware of. One of those problems that seems to come up regularly is that of sharing space.
By sharing space, I mean one of three things:
subleasing all of part of your Mission Valley condo to someone else inviting friends and relatives to stay with you for prolonged periods of time having a loud, … (3 comments)
