The Park View All-Stars, from right here in Chula Vista, rallied from a 3-0 deficit to defeat Taiwan 6-3, to win the Little League World Series. The last time a San Diego County team won the Little League World Series was in 1961 when El Cajon/La Mesa Northern won the whole enchilada. Summer means "Concerts on the Green" in downtown El Cajon at the Prescott Promenade, Main Street between Magnolia Avenue and Claydelle Avenue. Shows are on Fridays starting at 6:00 p.m. and ending at 8:00 p.m. Now in its ninth year, "Concerts on the Green" is sponsored by the El Cajon Development Corporation. San Diego has many seasons (drought, rain, mudslide, fire, etc.), but one of the most important to us is Tourist Season. Tourist Season begins Memorial Day weekend and ends Labor Day weekend, and it is the time when the population of the County seems like it tripled from three million to nine million, with the extra six million clogging the freeways, the beaches, and Balboa Park. One of the nice things about working from a home office is the opportunity to go out for a walk whenever I want, without a boss wondering where I'm going or asking co-workers where I am. Couple that with many areas of San Diego County being bike and pedestrian friendly, and it makes for a nice and healthy career. There is one area up in North County that has been notoriously unfriendly for pedestrians and bicyclists, and that's the area where Interstate 15 goes over Lake Hodges. The San Diego Boat Show, a San Diego Convention Center that plays to about 15,000 people during the first week of the new year, has announced that it is changing dates, locations, and operators The National Marine Manufacturers Association recently announced that it could not continue the show due to financial difficulties in the industry. More than 1,500 people are expected to participate in the Second Annual 5K Jenny's Walk Sunday at the San Diego State University Aztec Center. Money raised from the event will benefit the Friendship Circle, an organization that specializes in bringing joy, companionship, and friendship to children with special needs, as well as their families. This year's Coronado Home Show will be from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 22, 2009. Tickets are $25 and will be available the day of the tour at 1607 Sixth Street in Coronado. Proceeds will benefit the Pacific Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) of Coronado. PAWS is a nonprofit organization that adopts out homeless pets; funds a spay and neuter program; traps, neuters, and releases feral cats; and performs other animal-friendly missions.
