zoey the cool cat: My Kodak moment — Zoey the Cool Cat knew that everything would be alright - 12/12/10 10:42 PM
My Kodak moment Zoey the Cool Cat knew that everything would be alright I passed my state real estate exam in May 2005, but it wasn't until August 2005 when I hung my license with Century 21 Award in Mission Valley. When I finally made the jump to real estate, I had been working for Borders Group (Borders Books & Music, Waldenbooks, and Brentano's) since I was 18. I had worked my way up to store manager and had worked not only in my hometown of Riverside, but Mission Viejo, and many stores in San Diego. After 28 years with Borders,

zoey the cool cat: Everyone has a castle - 08/16/10 09:02 AM
Zoey the Cool Cat always likes to remind me — and me, you — that every house is someone's home, and that home is their castle, regardless of how big or small or unseemly it might be to you and me.

zoey the cool cat: She's a natural poser - 06/24/10 07:36 PM
One of the comments in a recent post of mine asked me if I had to pose Zoey the Cool Cat. Zoey the Cool Cat doesn't need any encouragement whatsoever for posing. This was the picture that elicited the comment: We've had Zoey the Cool Cat since September 20, 2007, and we've never had to pose her for anything. We just have to have our handy dandy cameras at the ready for whenever she decides to pose. Lately, Zoey the Cool Cat has been in a posing mode. I really do think she knows when the camera is nearby

zoey the cool cat: A lost Zoey the Cool Cat - 01/26/09 09:20 AM
Remember playing "hide and seek" when you were young? When you were the seeker and couldn't find a hider, you screamed "Come out, come out, wherever you are!" Well, we had an instance of that yesterday with Zoey the Cool Cat. Whenever my marketing guru and I leave the home, we always close the door to the home office so that Zoey the Cool Cat can't get up on the desks and walk around on the computer keyboards -- who knows what kind of emails she might send to some of these ActiveRain dog lovers here! We did spend four

zoey the cool cat: Psycho kitty, or how ActiveRain addiction affects cats (picture included) - 01/10/09 08:59 AM
I love trying to get good pictures of Zoey the Cool Cat. At the top of my list, though, are some good pictures of her yawning. Because of the digital camera delay between pushing the "take the picture now, dammit" button and when the camera actually decides to take the picture, it's extremely difficult to get a picture of a yawn. By the time the camera has decided to take the picture, the yawn is a couple of hours in the past. I succeeded in getting this one yesterday. Zoey the Cool Cat might truly be affected by an ActiveRain addiction, although it's

zoey the cool cat: Golden sunset or golden tummy? - 12/06/08 08:03 PM
Since I live inland, in the midst of hills and valleys, and lots of tall trees, it's rare that I get a nice sunset, but I got one a couple of days ago when I was over at Wal-Mart buying some kitty cat food for the Zoey the Cool Cat. Here's the sunset: When I got home and told Zoey the Cool Cat about it, she just rolled over to show me her tummy: Hmmmmm. Now that I look at the two pictures, I can't decide which is more golden, so I'll let you decide:

zoey the cool cat: I missed National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week last week - 11/15/08 03:16 AM
Probably at least once a month there's a story in a magazine, book, or newspaper, or on television about a pet that saved people by waking them due to a fire, dialing 911 in an emergency, leading authorities to a crime scene, and many others. A recent story in our paper concerned a little dog that died in a fire after waking the owner who was able to escape from the burning building. The dog involved was a pug, and the fire was determined to have started by "smoking materials" (hmmmmmmm) that were not put out properly. I'd almost

zoey the cool cat: It's hard to believe Zoey's already been here a year - 09/24/08 01:44 PM
WARNING Comment at your own risk. If you choose to comment on this blog entry, be prepared for me to visit your blog and comment there. Here's part two of my kitty cat story. The first one was about Sophie, our feral black cat that we were trying to convert into an indoor cat, but which was hit and killed by a car on September 19, 2007. This part of the story is about Zoey, a domestic short hair ginger tabby that was rescued from the El Cajon Animal Shelter on September 20, 2007. The following picture is my favorite picture

zoey the cool cat: Holding an open house with the fleas - 08/28/08 10:01 AM
I love to hold open houses, even to the extent that if I don't have one of my own, I'll call people in my office and ask if I can hold theirs open. So far, no one has declined my request. Several weeks ago I was going to hold open a vacant foreclosed condo. I went over on Monday to check out the condo and make sure that the electricity was on and that the cooling system worked. I quickly realized that it was not vacant. There were 426,591 generations of fleas living in that 1,500-SF condo. Obviously, I
