Our new baby! - 09/30/07 08:01 PM
Jim and I haven't been "new parents" for a while. See the picture of our "new baby" Reesi (think peanut butter cup.) She is our family's newest edition. Reesi is a full blooded Doberman and she joined our family with gusto. Prior to Reesi's arrival, our family was fairly quiet and set in it's ways. We have a 9 year old yellow Lab named Taylor who is just a gem. We could leave the house for many hours on end and Taylor would be just fine. Now.... we are back to puppy training. I had forgotten just how fun

A Special Night in St. Louis - 09/20/07 03:59 PM
Friday night made us proud to live in St. Louis. Forest Park was the site of the annual Forest Park Balloon Race Balloon Glow. Seventy hot air balloons tethered in the park amongst families picnicing and enjoying the beautiful evening. What a fabulous event that is unique to St. Louis! We look forward to the "Glow" every year. We have a friend who is a balloonist who allowed us to tag along as honorary "crew" members. We were able to get an inside look at how balloons are set up and launched. Friday provided a bit of

Our Weekend at the Clayton Art Show - 09/11/07 10:56 PM
This past weekend was the annual Clayton, Missouri Art Show. This event, which is free to the public, is one of our favorites. Unfortunately, this weekend, the weather was a bit threatening and it did rain off and on. We attended on Saturday and while it did drizzle, the attendance was lower so we had fewer crowds to battle for a glimpse of all the great artwork. Staged on the streets of Clayton, artists from many different genres presented their wares. We saw pottery, ceramics, jewelry, photography, drawing, wood work, fiber and glass. The artists were quite accomodating in answering questions

Back to School - A Rite of Passage - 09/08/07 10:23 AM
Two weeks ago, my oldest son Clarke went off to college. It is hard for me to realize that I am old enough to have a child that is college age. My loss is Mizzou's gain. Clarke plans to major in mechanical engineering. While I am worried that he has everything he needs, he is busy hanging out with friends and enjoying his new lifestyle with it's associated freedoms. It is a very familiar feeling for me as I am a Mizzou alum - twice! I remember walking to class crossing the quad behind Jesse hall. Rain or shine, it was

Fun in St. Louis over Labor Day Weekend - 09/06/07 04:52 PM
Jim and I had a great Labor Day weekend. We ended up showing property to some new buyers so we didn't have enough time to take in all of the fun activities available in the St. Louis, Missouri area over the past weekend. Chesterfield, Missouri was the place to be for the St. Louis County Fair and Air Show. The Blue Angels were the highlight of the show each afternoon. The weather cooperated beautifully-it was warm and dry. The turnout was great! We were lucky enough to be invited to a private "hangar party." This allowed us an insiders view of the
