Do you remember the last thing you had copied, either for yourself or someone else? 
You probably do.  It could have been someone's driver's license for your client file, a HUD statement, an earnest money check, tax returns for a mortgage broker, or a contract.  How about your insurance card at the doctor's office or your social security card for a job you just accepted?

Just a couple more days and it'll be here!  Five days to be exact!
The Coastal Carolina Fair always comes around Halloween for us.  So that gives the kids a great opportunity to strut their costumes a little longer or take part in the pumpkin contests!
This year the fair is celebrating their 53rd year.  The gates will open on Thursday, October 29th at 3pm for ten fun-filled days!

If you have been thinking about bringing home a cat, or adding another one to your household, then this is the weekend for you to take action!
This weekend has been dubbed "Feline Frenzy".  From today, October 9th through Sunday, October 11th you can visit the Charleston Animal Society, pick out your next feline family member that is over one year old, and the shelter will waive its adoption fee.
Every new pet comes either spayed or neutered, up-to-date on all vaccinations, microchipped, and you also get a free follow-up vet exam.

If you have or need flood insurance in South Carolina, then get ready to pay a little bit more for your premium.
As of October 1st, flood insurance premiums rose an average of 8% through the National Flood Insurance Program.  That boils down to roughly $50 more per year for homeowners with the state's average annual coverage.
In addition to the premiums going up, deductables also were increased.  If your deductable was $500, then it just doubled to $1000.  And if your deductable was already $1000, then it doubled as well to $2000.

A couple of years ago Charleston lost the only IMAX theater it had for lack of revenues.  We went to it a couple times, and the shows were fun, but there were honestly a very limited number of films made for the 3-D screen. 
But now another IMAX is set to open up in the Charleston area.  It will officially open on October 9th, but they are having a pre-opening celebration with some crazy deals!  This is the official message I was emailed about the event:

I will apologize ahead of time if something I say here offends or irritates you, but this is a topic that really gets on my nerves.
If you choose to smoke, then please, be my guest and smoke.  I don't care to breathe in what you're breathing out, and I don't want my son to breathe it either.  But you smoking doesn't really bother me.
What angers me is what some smokers choose to do with their cigarette butts after they've finished with them.  There are tons of trash cans and public ashtrays available everywhere you turn these days.  When you're … (16 comments)

Now this is something you could bring the whole family to and enjoy a day of eco-friendly fun!
The Second Annual Charleston Green Fair will be on Sunday, September 27th at Marion Square in Downtown Charleston.   It all starts at 12 pm and should last until 6 pm.
According to their website, "The purpose of the Green Fair is to create excitement and enthusiasm for green products, services and technologies available to the residents of South Carolina using an environmentally responsible forum of education and entertainment."

A few years ago Jim and I were introduced to Convoy of Hope.  It was the fourth one here in Charleston, but we had never heard of it before.  But I am so glad that we have been able to be a part of it.

This is another terrific opportunity to get outdoors and spend some quality time with your family and friends.
Do you have a state park anywhere near you?  I've searched the Charleston area, and unfortunately I cannot find one available close-by.
But if you do have one near you, then you'll want to mark your calendar for this coming Saturday.  And that's because Saturday, September 26 2009 is National Public Lands Day and entrance to all 391 national parks is free!
You will want to check with your park before heading out just to make sure that they're participating.

Did you happen to notice today's date?  Today is 09-09-09.
And do you know what some have named today?
Well today, 9/9, is FTD's annual Good Neighbor Day.  This means that you can head on down to a participating florist and pick up a free bouquet of flowers (while supplies last).
There are hundreds of FTD florists in the US and Canada participating by giving away free bouquets of flowers and encouraging you to share them with your neighbor.
