ca: Forestville, CA - 05/05/10 07:22 PM
Unlike Sonoma County towns of Glen Ellen and Kenwood, I would not call Forestville, CA a tourist destination. It is a secret little treasure for those of us who live in the Wine Country and for several thousand people who have vacation homes here. Located in west Sonoma County, Forestville sits on the boarder of the Russian River among century old Redwood Trees and mature oaks. It's about a 15 miles east of Santa Rosa. The easiest way to get there is US 101 then heading west on River Road which follows the Russian River all the way to the coast.

ca: Glen Ellen, CA - 04/30/10 02:00 PM
Glen Ellen is a little hamlet nestled in the hills of the Wine Country, shaded by towering redwoods and majestic oaks. It is located in between Santa Rosa and the town of Sonoma off Hwy 12. Hwy 12 is a two lane road that travels through the heart of the Sonoma Valley wine region. Some people would consider a drive down Hwy 12 to be a nice day trip all by itself, however if you take time to explore the towns and villages off the beaten path, you'll find many wine country treasures. Glen Ellen only hosts about 1000 residents

ca: The Town of Kenwood is a Wine Country tourist destination - 04/27/10 12:04 PM
The Town of Kenwood is a Wine Country tourist destination, and a great place to live! Kenwood is an unincorporated part of Sonoma County located between the City of Santa Rosa, and the City of Sonoma on Hwy 12, right in the middle of the "Valley of the Moon". Driving to Kenwoodcould be considered a vacation in itself. Beautiful vistas on both sides of the road. Vineyards, orchards, cattle, art, and wineries.Kenwoodis considered rural residential, however in the heart of the village is a collection of shops, restaurants, tasting rooms, and art galleries that will help fill your afternoon visit. ca: The Melitta Station Inn - 05/02/09 10:37 PM
Rincon Valley has it's back road treasures. The Melita Station Inn is one of them. Located at 5850 Melita Rd in Rincon Valley, Santa Rosa. The Melitta Station Inn is located at the end of a narrow country road. Shaded by a thick canopy of trees, the Inn back to the Santa Rosa Creek. Currently a Bed and Breakfast, this historic Rincon Valley building was built in the 1880's and was a stagecoach stop for travelers traveling between Sonoma and Santa Rosa. In 1887 it became a train depot popular with Italian immigrants who came to work the quarries for basalt paving stones
