Looking for something fun to do with the kids this October?  Take them over to the Western Railroad Museum on Hwy 12 just west of Rio Vista, CA
This is an annual trip my family.  My kids love it.  I think we've gone every year for the last 8 years.  Here's what your in for:

The museum opens at 9:30 on Saturday and Sunday.  Inside the museum there are railroad artifacts, a mock train engineers chair and train controls.  There is a great gift shop with hundreds of book and videos on railroading.

This is one of the best pumpkin patches in Northern California.  If your within a 2 hour drive of Rio Vista, CA it's worth taking the kids to.  It starts off at the Western Train Museum on Hwy 12 just outside Rio Vista.  This weekend coming up (October 24 & 25 2009) is the last weekend for this year. 
Here's how it works.  From the museum, you pay about $10 per person for tickets to ride a train from the museum out about 5 miles through the beautiful rural, rolling hills of Solano County to a eucalyptus grove.  At the grove … (3 comments)
