She focuses on the unemployment data/ranking for our big neighbor 100 miles to the North. 
But on that score, Portland is ranking ahead of Eugene-Springfield:
  We are 281st of 372 metro areas ranked.

Great post, Melinda.  Very timely, colorful and spot on.
We Norte Americanos could use a lot more history about our Mexican neighbors.
That includes the fact that the American Southwest was stolen from Mexico in the War of 1848....which, at the time, Congressman Abraham Lincoln denounced as being premised on lies popularized by the then occupant of the White House.

But I intend to read it.
Whether or not you consider the book a "must read", you do not have to be left-of-center to agree with the main point of this short post from Stewart Penn of Los Angeles.
Money is not the root of all evil.
But trade in derivatives is the root of this recession.
