If you have been through Knoxville lately you may have noticed that I-40 through downtown has been closed. It is part of a project the TN Department of Transportion has dubbed Smartfix 40.

It has rerouted the through traffic to what was the Knoxville bypass I-640 and traffic north on I-75 onto I-275.  They are building bridges through downtown and also are resurfacing and widening the roads. 

When this project got underway I thought that it would create chaos and make it nearly impossible to get across town. Only at morning and evening rush hours does it even slow down, and not for long. I am impressed with the way things have worked out. It really has gone off without a hitch.

I spoke to a lot of people who thought the term 'Smartfix' would come back to haunt them but as far as I can see it has been pretty smart. Also, the improvements were much needed and will help keep Knoxville beautiful for a long time.

 

 

 

I am somewhat new to the Knoxville area and I am trying out new restaurants. Last night I went to this place called 'The Chop House'. I'm not sure if this is a big chain but there aren't any where I'm from in Florida. I just want to say it is a great place to eat. I went a little bit early (6 pm) because I can't stand waiting just to be seated then waiting again for my food but the service was very quick. Our order was taken promptly by a very smiley waitress(almost too smiley) and the food was impressive. We could tell that all of the ingredients were fresh and my New York strip was cooked perfectly. One of the best words in sales in the word "NEXT". Today I had a deal fall through after a counter offer of only $500. I have to choices of what to do:

I can sit around and be mad at the buyer or my seller

Or I can say "NEXT" and move on and find the right buyer for the listing.

That is one of the hardest things to do in sales of any kind but especially in real estate because you spend so much time,effort, and FUEL trying to put a deal together. It took me a while to figure that out but after a few years of selling cars it has become my credo.

So don't dispair and be ready for the NEXT one!

 
The Women Council of REALTORS(R) is holding a golf tournament in June and a Texas Hold 'em tournament at the same time. I heading the poker tournament and looking for sponsors. A large portion of the proceeds will be donated to an autism charity (I forgot to write down which one, but I will find out). We are looking for table sponsors as well as prize and maybe even card/chip (name/logo will be printed on the back of the cards or hot-stamped onto the chips) sponsors. The chip sponsorship is somewhat expensive and we aren't sure if we are going to do it, but will be determined by the number of players if someone would like to. I wanted to thank everyone who made some of the suggestions about my website. I did make some of the changes, but I think I need to get a little more code saavy before I try anything too slick. I changed some of the coloring but not all and also made it easier to search the local MLS. Thanks again.
 
I just got done with my website and I am not real sure about it. I know that it has some of the features that everyone else's has (mortgage calculator, etc.) but I don't think it will do much in the way of lead generation.
