Do you want to explore Maui's teeming tropical reefs up close on your own schedule? Skipping snorkeling charters saves money and it's quite convenient to rent equipment yourself and take a short drive to amazing West Maui snorkeling locations that are easy to find. The national average of money spent per pupil per year is $10,259, according to the U.S. Census report on public school funding. The Hawaii public school system spent $11,800 per pupil for the 2007-2008 school year. That's fifteen percent higher than the national average. It's nice to see that Hawaii's tax dollars are being spent in the right place, and it's even more heartening to see that we're doing a fair percent better than the average.
