Barbara Walters of Television's 20/20 did a story on gender roles in
Kabul , Afghanistan several years before the Afghan conflict.
She noted that women customarily walked 5 paces behind their husbands.

Ms. Walters recently returned to Kabul and observed that women
still walk behind their husbands. From Ms. Walter's vantage point,
despite the overthrow of the oppressive Taliban regime, the women now seem to
walk even further back behind their husbands and are happy to maintain
the old custom.

Ms. Walters approached one of the Afghani women and asked,
"Why do you now seem happy with the old custom that you once tried so
desperately to change?"

The woman looked Ms. Walters straight in the eyes and without
hesitation said, "Land Mines."

Looks like the bill passed as of July 30th.  The act  authorizes the Federal Housing Administration to guarantee up to $300 billion in new 30-year fixed rate mortgages for subprime borrowers if lenders write-down principal loan balances to 90 percent of current appraisal value.

This act is intended to gain back confidence in Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac by solidifying and injecting money into the two large U.S. suppliers of mortgage funding. That means states will be authorized to refinance subprime loans using mortgage revenue bonds.

This is some pretty interesting new and I was hope to see how everyone out there feels about it. 

I like that it includes a first-time home buyer refundable tax credit for purchases on or after April 9, 2008 and before April 1, 2009 equal to 10 percent of the purchase price of a principal residence, up to $7,500.

Boy is it hard being a Packer fan this time of the year.  I really want to catch up on all the new things happening, but Favre is everywhere. 

I say bring him back.  Why not he had a great 07 and is poised to have a great 08'.  I think Rodgers could wait another year.

I would be happier to see him play in Green Bay than go to the bears or vikings.
