The Deadline for The Home Tax Credit is Drawing Near. The deadline for getting a complete and signed offer is April 30th, 2010, only eight weeks away. The deadline for closing is June 30th, 2010. Tips on Selling your home - 02/27/10 12:33 PM
I saw Tips On Selling Your Home on Good Morning America Monday and thought I would share some of the insights listed there. I have added some of my own as well.
Interviewing Gary Keller, author of Shift: How Top Real Estate Agents Tackle Tough Times, he had a theory I think is right on. On Good Morning America, he said, 'This is a Good Buy Market'. In other words, ..."if the seller is going to sell a house and say goodbye to it, the buyer has to perceive it as a good buy".
Here are his 5 rules for this … (4 comments)

Most sites deal with mortgage calculators which will give you an approximate monthly payment. But this Closing Cost Calculator will tell you what to expect in up front closing costs.
If you are unfamiliar with the term Closing Costs, I have linked you to Wikipadia so that you can read about it. This is a must read for new buyers, as it will give you the terminology for all of those fees on your closing statement.

Spring is in the air! - 02/20/10 01:07 PM

I decided to be brave and try the bird feeders again. I really miss my birds and after the bear visit last fall, had been nervous about trying it again.
So I put them out this morning to see. It is a beautiful day here in the mountains. Feels easily like 50's. I pruned my cherry trees and an old peach tree.
Now I am getting ready to leave in search of deeds for lettuce, spinach and radishes. I want to start my salad garden early this year.
I hope you are having a great and sunny day … (4 comments)

Look who I ran into Yesterday- - 02/19/10 07:07 PM

They almost turned me into a vegetarian, they were so sweet. I was able to pet them and they made sweet noises. It reminded me of my Grandfathers farm in Northern Indiana, just south of Cold Water Michigan. He had cows and horses and all kinds of gardens. His animals were all his pets, right up until he turned them into steaks. As kids we loved those cows. So it really took me back-the smells and soft coats.
The Carolina's are surrounded by farms and crops and I love seeing it all.
This group was really enjoying … (1 comments)

Can't believe that we were hit again - 02/13/10 10:28 AM
Here is what I awoke to this morning:

I think this is the fourth big storm that has buried us. It is highly unusual for this area. But here it is.
It is beautiful, to me at least. I am going to try to bundle up and get some 'eye candy' for the day, as Wordy C would say.

A Day with friends at their floral shop - 02/11/10 05:42 PM
I spent today with my good friends Michael and Marina Champion at their Floral shop in West Asheville. They were a little short handed and just needed an extra body for answering the phones. It was really fun to watch Marina put together her bouquets. She is a great designer.

If you have not ordered flowers for Valentine's day, you should give Rose Petals a call. They have the freshest flowers, and the prettiest arrangements ever. You can call them at 665-2454 or stop by their store on Brevard Road. They are in the same center as Apollo Flame … (0 comments)

Well, if this isn't pure irony - 02/10/10 05:43 PM
I just read an article about MBA. They have had to short sale the building in Washington DC in which they have their corporate headquarters. What??
It sold for 48% of it's original sales price. Will they repay the remaining $75 million owed?
Interesting!

Temple Grandin - 02/07/10 10:40 AM
Last night I watched Clare Danes in the movie Temple Grandin in the movie by the same name. First off what a great name. It really intrigued me.
And what an incredible person! Suffering from Autism, this woman was pushed by her mother to achieve greatness. With all of the big doors blocking her way, this woman has achieved more in her lifetime than I could ever imagine in mine. And she continuously walked through those tough doors over and over.
She not only graduated from High School, she went on to get a Bachelor's in Science and then a … (4 comments)

Hendersonville NC Weather - 02/06/10 08:37 AM
We are having one of the worst ice storms I have seen here in my 5 years as a residence of Henderson County. You can see from the Accu-Weather Report that it is not looking good. We have had every combination of weather you can imagine since thursday around 2:30 PM. It has gone from rain to sleet to snow and then to rain and back again. Moisture has come down non-stop since then, slowing sometime overnight, But it is supposed to stay like this for a while with a rapid freeze warning for the next 6 hours.
Here is what … (0 comments)

Another Storm In Western North Carolina - 02/05/10 11:09 AM
We are having another storm, this one an ice storm. Yesterday it started with a light icy snow, then rain and then sleet and then rain... It has not stopped coming down since yesterday afternoon, around 2:30. As I look out the window, the trees are covered in icicles and water is dripping from everything.
This storm has the entire area shut down, everything is closed and there are 20,000 people in the Hendersonville area alone. We are under a storm warning until Saturday I think.
I know that all of you in the Northern states are probably asking what the … (1 comments)
