codger melodramas: From MY Back Porch (What DOES a Codger do when he’s not posting?) - 05/08/07 02:42 AM
Good Tuesday Morning!—It may come as a complete surprise to you, but I did not post yesterday! I made a few comments—but no post. Medford didn’t post, nor did Carl, Harold, Fred, or even the imaginary Molly. Boomer doesn’t post (yet—I’ve been working on him). Since all our other characters are imaginary—they did not post either.
So just what does a Codger do if he doesn’t post? Whatever he wants! Some of us, I guess, sit in neat rocking chairs and watch the world go by—there’s some benefit in that, I have one and I DO rock! But that soon becomes … (14 comments)

codger melodramas: Codger™ Melodramas©—Map of our Corner of Cyber-Space - 05/06/07 07:52 AM
It’s been a day of change in old Saint Paul, beginning with high winds—even knocked down a large tree—clouds and light rain. Now, the wind appears to have calmed, and we are enjoying a little sun and temperature is 68ºF.
I’ve been spending my time enjoying a bottle of fine Great Northern Porter, brewed right here—just out west 7th Street from where I sit this moment—by the Summit Brewing Co. It is to be savored a sip at a time. Ahh.
But I digress. My whole purpose for posting this fine Sunday afternoon, was to share with you a rudimentary … (15 comments)

codger melodramas: Codger™ Melodramas©—Media Spies in Codger Corners! & Sunday Update - 05/05/07 10:29 AM
This morning I was busy doing outside stuff, well, at least after my hearty breakfast, accompanied (of course) by a nice porcelain, not China, but made in China, Codger Collectible™ mug of fresh, hot, organically & shade-grown, Fair Trade, Guatemalan Roast coffee. That was ended as the rains began. As I write this, the temperature is in the mid fifties, it’s windy, and raining steadily. So I’m stuck inside deprived of what little yard work required on my vast estate (60x120 feet).
A little news (if you don’t mind—if you do—don’t read any further) from the cyber-village of Codger Corners. We … (22 comments)

codger melodramas: Codger™ Melodramas©—Act III—The $pendthrifts buy a big Boat! - 05/03/07 09:46 PM
Editor’s Notes: In the Real World of Saint Paul, the current temperature is a seasonal 58ºF and the sky is cloudy, the high today is expected to be 64ºF, with a 70% chance of  (much needed) rain. In the Cyber world, as always, it is a computer-controlled 72ºF, it is partly cloudy, and the humidity a comfortable 50%. So let’s go there for today’s installment, taking place at the Cyber-Café, Molly Halloran is your narrator.

codger melodramas: Reflections from MY Back Porch—Sunday Edition—Resisting the Addiction of AR! - 04/29/07 12:08 AM
Yep, Med & I are enjoying our (porcelain, not China, but made in China) Codger Collectible™ mugs of organically & shade-grown, Fair Trade, Guatemalan Roast coffee—right here on my just redrawn back porch, complete with a borrowed from Boomer’s back porch Pruett’s Pig Powders thermometer securely fastened to the pillar (this is so I don’t have to take the steps necessary to upload a separate image)!
This is how I occupied my computer time on Saturday instead of posting to the ‘Rain, and the rest of that summer-like day was spent outside puttering around my little yard—in a mostly successful attempt … (19 comments)

codger melodramas: Old Men & Coffee Shops—Codger’s Corner—Mr. Isaac Barrington “Trigg” Guudlender! - 04/26/07 11:02 PM
Editor’s Notes: In the Real World of Saint Paul, the current temperature is a seasonal 52ºF and the sky is clear, the high today is expected to be 76ºF. In the Cyber world, as always, it is a computer controlled 72ºF, it is partly cloudy, and the humidity a comfortable 50%. So let’s go there for today’s installment, taking place at the Cyber-Café (Chapter II, see Chapter I): Molly had just cleared our breakfast dishes from our table, you know, the one in front by the plate glass window, and I was placing my (porcelain, not China, but made in China) … (21 comments)

codger melodramas: Old Men & Coffee Shops—Codger’s Corner Edition—Guudlender - 04/25/07 10:16 PM
In the Real World this fine Saint Paul Morning, Pruett’s Pig Powders replica thermometer informs me that it is 50ºF. Meanwhile, back at the Codger’s Corner “Cyber-Café Conversations” restaurant & coffee shop, the gang, besides enjoying their (porcelain, not China, but made in China) Codger Collectible™ mugs of organically & shade-grown, Fair Trade, Guatemalan Roast coffee, are discussing the next installment of our little melodrama.
“Ok, so we have an idea for the next act,” I said, looking out the plate glass window at the Codger’s Corner still empty street, “what’s next?”
“What do we know about Mr. Guudlender?” asked Medford.

codger melodramas: Reflections from the Codger™ Cyber Estate Office—Technical Assistance, Please! - 04/16/07 09:40 PM
In the Real World, this Saint Paul morning according to Pruett’s, is a seasonable temperature of 51ºF, and according to the “Weather Channel,” a predicted high of 66ºF & sunny!
Here at our “Cyber Estate Sales Office,” it is a pleasant 72ºF with a light breeze, providing us as always, a virtually perfect morning!
This morning we are seeking technical advice on the lending aspect of real estate. Keeping in mind that our upcoming “Codger Melodrama” series will be dealing with very good, very bad and nothing in between (melodramas don’t concern themselves with the “in between”), we are asking for … (17 comments)

The Codgers met this cool Sunday morning at our recently acquired “Codger™ Cyber-Realty” office, part of a new cyber-strip that includes “Cyber-Café Conversations”, “Harold’s Barber Shop”, & the “Merton, Boardman, Ambrose & Company” store (reworked—the graphic will be debut later).

This morning, we’d like to introduce some of our supporting cast members with a short bio for each:

I. M. Piranha & Joe Earnest: We’re certain that I. M. Piranha has some redeeming qualities—more than likely a wife he adores and children he dotes upon—but for our little serial melodrama, that will play no part. … (13 comments)

codger melodramas: From Boomer’s Back Porch—the “Real World” Intrudes—the “Serial Codger™ Cyber-Adventure” Interrupted! - 04/04/07 10:02 PM
Don’t you just hate it when you are having a great time, and responsibility kicks you in the shins—and reminds you there are things that must be done.
Today, where it is a less than seasonal +22ºF, with enough of a wind to make it feel like +10ºF here on Boomer’s back porch, is one of those times. It seems I am committed to an early breakfast meeting (NOT with the Codgers™) with some neighborhood activist pooh-bahs!
Help yourself to some fresh, hot, organically & shade-grown, fair trade, Sumatran-Roast coffee!
Before I go, a HUGE THANKS to both Ines … (30 comments)

And now to The Codgers ™!

I spent a short time this morning in “RW*” Old Saint Paul, and found it to be a mild 42ºF with a mostly cloudy sky. The predicted high for today is near 55ºF, winds WNW at 5 to 10 mph, and the chance of rain about 40%.  And this is the best they predict for the week (by Wednesday, highs in the low 30s, lows in the mid 20s and a chance of…snow!).
Back to Cyber-World and … (16 comments)
