properties: What Happens If Interest Rates Go Up? Buy Now While Rates Are Low! - 06/13/09 04:23 PM
When I started selling real estate nearly 26 years ago (WOW! That's a long time!), rates were approximately 18%!  When rates are that high, you can't afford very much home! We had a celebration when they dropped to 13% and shouted for joy when they plummeted to 11%.  It is possible with inflation that rates will rise again.  They have already risen a bit.  I recommend buying now while interest rates and prices are both low at the same time and before the large inventory of attractive homes dwindles.
Even if rates go up to 9%, they're still great.  We've been spoiled … (0 comments)

properties: Happy President's Day! I Hear There's An $8,000 Credit For 1st Buyers! True? - 02/16/09 01:20 PM
Remember back when you were little?  How did you celebrate President's Day?   I remember spending hours at school celebrating our first president on Washington's day.  Remember the cherry tree?  That was a great story on honesty.  There was a separate day when we celebrated Lincoln's day.  We learned how he cared about freedom and every individual.
How many of you are old enough to remember celebrating both days?  I'll be 63 next week, and I'm certainly old enough!  All of a sudden one year all presidents were rolled into one great day where we can take time to honor all honest, hard working and caring presidents … (0 comments)

properties: January Is The 1st Month of The Great Cedar City Real Estate Year of 2009! - 01/17/09 07:30 PM
Why do I love selling real estate in Cedar City, UT and all outlying areas?  That's easy!  There are great people who live here and equally great people moving here!  I had a buyer recently tell me that he thinks pretty soon all of the really good people from his area in California will be living in Cedar City!  While that may be a bit of an exaggeration, I agree with him that Cedar City is a wonderful place to live.  I've had people stop in my office to buy a 2nd home just because; and I quote, "It feels good here … (0 comments)

properties: Can you buy now? Interest rates are up & lending guidelines are tightening! - 10/17/08 03:53 PM
What is happening?  The prime goes down but mortgage interest rates are up?  Did I hear 6.7%?  Did I hear that they are going up by another 1/2 % soon?  Please tell me that's not true!  As interest rates go up, the amount of home that a buyer can qualify for will go down.  It's not too late.  6.75% is still a good rate.
The lender for one of my borderline buyers said today that the buyer had better buy soon, or they may not be able to qualify.  He said that lending guidelines are changing which could make borderline buyers not reach the … (0 comments)

properties: Shortsales--foreclosures--bargains galore! - 10/16/08 05:58 PM
Where do you want to put your money now?  With incredibly low interest rates, huge inventory, bargain prices and great loan programs available in in our area, I'm voting for buying real estate in the Cedar City/Iron County, UT area.  I can't remember when I've seen all 4 in line to benefit buyers at the same time.  Often you'll see rates up when prices are down, and there's a see-saw effect.
During tough economical times like these, it's comforting to know that my real estate investments are still here and have not disappeared.  I certainly can't say the same for some of my stocks!  Just … (0 comments)
