google: Where Is Wonder Wheel? - 07/01/11 02:40 PM
The online world is buzzing today about the disappearance of Google's Wonder Wheel. It was a nice graphical tool that let you drill down on a search phrase to see what else consumers were searching for. If you're looking for ideas that are similar to your keywords, try clicking on 'Related searches' on the search results page.

Google's suggestions will appear at the top of the results page, and you can easily explore from there.

Of course, nothing beats some quality time with Google's Keyword Tool, or even just getting out and talking to buyers and sellers … (2 comments)

google: Search Google and Yahoo! With One Click - 03/14/10 03:31 PM
Checking search results or researching keywords can be repetitive and time consuming, especially if you're looking at both Google and Yahoo! Here's a solution from Twingine, which lets you search once and then view results side by side:

You can also view Bing results by clicking on the link at the top of the page, just to the right of the Twingine logo. For more info, visit www.Twingine.com.

google: Google and Bing To Index Social Media Content - 11/01/09 07:42 PM
Detractors of Twitter frequently ask "who cares what I'm doing right now?" Apparently Google and Bing care, as both major search engines are moving forward with plans to index tweets.
Bing is also going to index Facebook status updates, while Google recently launched Social Search, a Google Labs experiment "that helps you find more relevant public content from your broader social circle."

Will this change how you use Facebook and Twitter? Will you optimize your status updates and tweets with keywords, or keep them more spontaneous?

google: Happy birthday, Google! - 09/27/09 09:30 PM
That's not an embarrassing typo in today's Google logo, it's a tribute to Google's 11th birthday.
From its beginnings at Stanford University with co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin, it is amazing how much Google has impacted our daily lives:
Search, Gmail, Docs, Maps, Earth, Analytics, AdWords, Picasa ... and take a look at what they're working on in Google Labs.
Happy birthday, Google!

google: Slow Down and Let Google Help You - 09/13/09 05:41 PM
Whenever I'm searching for information online, it's all about speed. Normally I type my search into the Google toolbar in my browser and then quickly skim the results. This weekend I finally noticed the insights available from Google Suggest. It's always been there, but I've just been in too much of a hurry to see it.
On Google's home page, as you type your search into the search box, Google shows you a list of popular terms that other users have looked for. This can be a great way to fine-tune the content for your blog.
Let's take a look at a … (9 comments)

google: Three New Ways To Look At Google - 08/02/09 10:00 AM
Google search results now offer three great ways to drill down on a search and find similar topics with the Show Options feature. Take a look at the standard view for the search phrase "real estate blogging." Most of us focus on the individual search results and skip right over the new link that says "Show options ..."

Clicking on "Show options..." opens up a panel on the left-hand side with several choices, including three additional views: Related Search, Wonder Wheel, and Timeline. Here is the Related Search view:

google: 12 Business Tips From Google - 07/26/09 09:03 PM
Is there any more benevolent site on the web than Google? It's so much more than a search engine, maps, office docs,  photo editor or analytics system.
Take a look at the current Google roster of products. If you're like me, you likely found more than a few new gadgets that look interesting.
To help you implement these effectively, Debbie Leight of the Google Apps Team has written "Working with Google: Business tips to help you engage customers, monetize your site and work more efficiently."
If you don't hear from me over the next few days, I'm probably having a lot of fun … (14 comments)

google: Now You See It, Now You Don't - 06/13/09 11:27 PM
I recently shared my Google success from the post Henderson Nevada Bank Owned Homes; Inventory Overview, 06-06-09. Within twelve hours, that post was ranked #2 on page 1, but a few hours later it slipped to ninth. Three days later, I couldn't find the post within the first 25 pages!
In just 72 hours, my ranking went from page 1 to this:

Well, maybe not exactly like this ... there were 250+ other results for "Henderson Nevada bank owned homes" and I still hadn't found mine.

google: Google Asks 'Do You Feel Lucky?' - 12/13/08 10:09 PM
One of the things that I like about pastor Jud Wilhite's sermons at Central Christian in Henderson NV is that he always ties them in to the present day. A few weeks ago Jud spoke about how we are always searching for answers - from the most mundane issues to the meaning of life.
Today 'search' and 'Google' are used interchangeably. More than 50 million people per month look to Google for answers. But with billions of pages indexed, the product of a Google search can be a little overwhelming.
Search for "real estate" and there are about 514 million results. Want to know about "mortgage … (3 comments)

google: Google maps public transportation routes - 09/14/07 11:39 PM
Most web users are familiar with Google Maps, and the more adventurous know Google Earth. Now Google is working on a third product to help us find our way. Google Transit is a tool to plan trips using public transportation. Currently in development, it's available for seventeen U.S. cities, plus Japan.
You can plan routes on Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) in San Francisco, Capital Metro in Austin, Hillsborough Area Regional Transit Authority (HART) in Tampa, and TheBus in Honolulu, plus several other cities. Links are included to each public transportation entity as well.
I think new residents and tourists will benefit most from this … (5 comments)
