The 1930's is one of my favorite decades for classic cars. Just check out the curves, color and chrome on this Ford Roadster on display at the Henderson Super Run Classic Car Show held at The District at Green Valley Ranch and on Water Street in downtown Henderson.

If you're a car enthusiast, Henderson NV is the place to be this weekend for the Super Run Classic Car Show. The event kicks off on Thursday, September 22, at The District at Green Valley Ranch and continues at the Henderson Events Plaza and on Water Street in downtown Henderson from Friday through Sunday.
In addition to hundreds of classic cars, hot rods and motorcycles, Henderson Super Run 2011 offers live entertainment on Friday and Saturday nights, a 50's Fashion Show on Saturday, and the popular Roaring Engines and Slow Drag / Burn Out competitions.

The 3rd Annual Margarita Festival takes place this Sunday, September 4, 1-6 PM, at Lake Las Vegas. Hosted by Sonrisa Grill, the event starts with live entertainment at 1 PM along with tacos and barbecue. Margarita tasting begins at 3 PM to determine the "Best Margarita Mixologist" who will win $1000 and a feature on Liquor.com. Tickets for the Margarita Festival are just $20 each, with part of the proceeds going to Aid for AIDS of Nevada (AFAN).

The Village at Lake Las Vegas provides the perfect backdrop this Saturday night, September 3 from 7-10 PM, for Wine Walk, a tasting event and fundraiser to benefit New Vista Community. Henderson NV is home to five high school football teams -- the Basic Wolves, Coronado Cougars, Foothill Falcons, Green Valley Gators, and Liberty Patriots. The season kicks off this Thursday, August 25, at 7 PM when Foothill hosts Durango. Basic and Liberty begin their season on Friday with games against Cimarron-Memorial and Arbor View. Spring-like temperatures have returned to Henderson just in time for this Saturday's Bark In The Park. Dog lovers and their pups will be at Paseo Verde Park in Green Valley Ranch from 10AM to 2PM for demonstrations, contests, adoptions and more!

I remember learning to read at a very young age. There were always plenty of books, magazines and newpapers in the house and a giant dictionary to look up any word I didn't understand. My favorites were the orange Childcraft encyclopedias, The Sports Immortals and Reader's Digest. We were also lucky to live just a short walk from the McMillan Public Library in Wisconsin Rapids.

A strong community supports itself from within. Through the Henderson Community Foundation, donors are connected with several local causes where they can "give locally, help locally." Current general projects include providing textbooks for at-risk students as well as scholarships for Henderson high school students.
Since I live across the street from a park, and Shadow and I spend so much time at the Heritage Bark Park, I'm donating to Friends of Henderson Parks and Recreation.
Other HCF funds include: the APPLE Partnership to promote literacy; Henderson Military Families Assistance; Partners with Henderson Police Department K-9; and the High School Leadership Fund.

One of the best ways to end the day is a trip to Heritage Bark Park with Shadow. The park has sweeping panoramic views of the Las Vegas valley, including the world-famous Las Vegas Strip. Not to be outdone, sometimes nature puts on a show of its own as the sun dips behind Black Mountain.

Homes in Henderson Nevada saw average selling prices fall 3.74% in June. The median selling price stayed even at $185,000. For the first half of 2010, the average selling price for Henderson Nevada homes is up 0.16%, while the median selling price has risen 3.79%. The total number of Henderson homes sold is up 10.3% year-over-year.

For June 2010, there were 603 home sales in Henderson Nevada with a median price of $165,500. Of those, 487 were single-family homes with a median price of $185,000.
Here's a quick look at price, volume and financing trends in the Henderson real estate market.
In 2009 there were a total of 5,928 home sales in Henderson Nevada. The median sale was a 3-bedroom, 1800 square foot home with a selling price of $180,157. The median selling price for a single-family home fell by 18.1% during the year, from $235,000 to $192,500.
