online tools: Deleted in Seattle - When to use pie charts

Ardell recently posted about a site for making pie charts. In that post there was an example of a pie chart, but it didn't look quite right to me. So I entered this comment: "This isn't the correct use of a pie chart. It looks like you're comparing number of homes sold in Jan - Jun with current active listings and those in escrow. A pie chart should be used to show proportions of the whole. For example, you could do a chart called 'Homes Sold in the Seattle Area'. I just found out about this website today called MyYawp.com. For starters, it's just a fun word to say ... Yawp!! (Go ahead, close your office door and let out a couple of hearty Yawps! Even better, tape a sign on the door that says "Don't bother me, I'm finding my Yawp!") When I thought of what kind of animal might make that sound, an ostrich came to mind -- and who doesn't like a good photo of an ostrich? ... Yawp!! Hmm, is this anything like The Lovely Wife's ROAR? Residential real estate search engine Trulia announced today that they've gone national, adding information on over 60 million properties. The free online service allows consumers to search homes for sale by price, type of home, number of bedrooms, square feet, and geographically by city/state or ZIP code. For brokers and agents, Trulia has plans to offer enhanced/branded listing features and performance-based text advertising to create additional exposure for their listings. One of Trulia's focuses is to help consumers understand real estate trends at the local level.
