politics: Elections And Elecciónes - 10/28/10 08:16 PM
Today I took part in early voting in Henderson NV. My sample ballot was 64 pages long -- 32 in English, and 32 in Spanish. Is this really necessary and cost-effective? Let's do some math!
City-Data.com shows that the population of Clark County in July 2009 was 1,902,834 with 60.2% being White Non-Hispanic and 22.0% Hispanic. According to the Clark Country Election Department, there were 736,535 registered active voters as of October 13.

politics: Happy Birthday, Bo! - 10/09/09 10:07 PM
Every once in awhile, some event comes along that transcends political differences. We put aside our ideologies, dial back the rhetoric, and celebrate around a common cause.

Media on both sides of the aisle have been covering President Obama's trip to Copenhagen tomorrow to make one final push for Chicago. First lady Michelle Obama … (4 comments)

politics: ACORN ... It's Nuts! - 09/19/09 04:00 AM
On the heels of multiple ACORN offices being caught on video assisting a 'prostitute' and her 'pimp' to obtain housing, cheat the tax system, and engage in human trafficking the U.S. Senate voted 83-7 to "prevent Acorn from being able to bid for federal grant money."
The House followed suit later in the week, voting 345-75 to cut off funding. Speaker Nancy Pelosi called for an investigation, which puts her firmly in agreement with ... Glenn Beck! It reminds me of this excahnge between Bill Murray (Dr. Venkman) and David Margulies (the Mayor) from Ghostbusters:
Dr. Venkman: Human sacrifice. Dogs and cats living … (7 comments)
