table rock lake: RARE LAKEFRONT JEWEL WITH DOCK APPROVAL IN SHELL KNOB
- 11/18/12 05:04 AM
18 ACRE HEAVILY WOODED PARCEL ON TABLE ROCK LAKE offers a rare opportunity. Picture a pleasant 10 mile drive thru Ozark's Mark Twain National Forest, arriving at a secluded, but not isolated, parcel of oaks, hickory and walnut facing 880' of gentle waterfront, with 200+ feet of community dock approval. This has been a family camp - sometimes termed a 'Fish Camp'. iT has a modest doublwide that is livable while building a dream lake home.

table rock lake: Unpredictable Predictions In Shell Knob
- 11/18/12 04:06 AM
Midway through November in SW Missouri and we're still waiting for our first frost.... but am not complaining. I have not seen the usual duck migrations, nor have our normal 'winter' birds arrived. Guess they know better than the professional weather prognostigators, when it is time to move south. In other words, it's been a very mild Fall. However, I was happy to see our usual pair of Bald Eagles back and fishing on my shoreline yesterday.
The Missouri Department of Conservation publishes a great Natural Events calendar each year, which gives guidelines for when to anticipate the last frost, (2 comments)
Ever wonder what your dog does when you can't see him?
I live in a rural area in the Ozarks on beautiful Table Rock Lake, about 12 miles from Shell Knob, Mo. Most of the time, our three acres is large enough for our dog to chase squirrels, lizards and dig up moles. However, there have been times when we wish we had a camera mounted on her head to see where travels have taken her. It would be helpful to know who we should be apologizing to.

table rock lake: SPRING INTO SHELL KNOB, MO
- 03/13/12 02:48 AM
SPRINGING INTO SHELL KNOBSpring may be earlier than normal, but I don't know anyone who wants winter back. Table Rock Lake is mirror-like calm this morning. A small group of ducks seems to be enjoying the water, and a Bufflehead duck is diving for his lunch. Real Estate activity is picking up, with buyers checking out Shell Knob and Table Rock lake. The Army Corps of Engineers, who operate Table Rock, are facing tight budgets this year. The Corps operates 29 parks around the Ozarks and 10 boat ramps. They are considering closing or limiting services to several of the recreation areas. (0 comments)
table rock lake: Early Spring For Shell Knob
- 01/27/12 08:35 AM
I can't say that the Redbuds are blooming, but my Forsythia and Jonquils are popping way too early with the calendar still showing January. I can only remember one other year, in the 20+ that I've lived here, that has been this mild. The Ozarks (SW Missouri) tend to miss the heavy duty winters of the northern climes. This is true and often a reason to entice seniors to move here. With temps currently in the 50's, we still need a lightweight jacket, but still too cool for my tastes to be the fellow I saw yesterday kayaking on Table Rock (1 comments)

A lovely 2 acre parcel of Shell Knob, MO waterfront land will close in 10 days. I sold it to a couple who live next to it, extending their current 5 acres..... or that was the plan.
Checking the plat for the area, I found a break between the two properties. This was a narrow strip, which divided the parcels by 12'. Further checking found that it was not an easement, etc, but was privately held, and until the last 3 years, the owner was paying $58/yr property tax for this 12 x 410' of land! (2 comments)
table rock lake: New Shell Knob Year
- 01/06/12 06:24 AM
Happy New Year from the Ozarks. If real estate sales will go up in the same manner that our winter temps are, then 2012 will be a good year.
It has been a mild winter in Shell Knob and my outdoor thermometer is currently reading 69 degrees! Normal for January would be in the 40's. Eagle Watching Days are being held this week end at several area lakes. It is a real pleasure to watch an eagle swoop by and snatch a fish for his breakfast. Birds are a constant source of amazement to me since moving here to Table (0 comments)
This booklet supplies answers to most questions about the "Quiet End of Table Rock Lake". It includes area information on marinas, camping, fishing, and lodging/resorts, as well as a list of Real Estate companies and restaurants. In other words, just about everything you might want to know to plan a trip down here in the Ozarks. It even includes a list of the State Record fish caught on Table Rock. How about a 139# Paddlefish; or a 7# spotted Bass? (2 comments)
Wish my out of town buyer hadn't had weather problems yesterday. Would have loved to smile while showing lake homes and say that 71 degrees and sunny was our normal winter day in the village that is Shell Knob, MO!! Unfortunately, they had snow to contend with up north - like who hasn't? Well, actually, we've only had two inches of snow here this winter. Most of the huge volumne of winter precip has gone around us on Table Rock Lake.
Unfortunately, too - 71 is not our normal winter temp in Shell Knob - but is also is (1 comments)
table rock lake: Table Rock Lake - Boat Shows & Bass Fever
- 01/20/11 09:19 AM
As a resident of Shell Knob on Table Rock Lake, I've noticed a distinct corollary between the start of the winter boat shows and area residents getting Bass Fever. Boat Shows are a terrific way to get out of the house and avoid thinking about the two inches of snow that dropped in. And this is the start of Boat Show season for the Midwest. St Joe, MO has theirs starting this week end; as does northwest Arkansas in Rogers. The following week end Oklahoma City, followed closely by Tulsa and Overland Park, KS hosts shows. February's list includes Topeka, KS, St. (2 comments)

Location could mean several things, depending upon the part of the country you are in. My Shell Knob, MO market on Table Rock Lake is a recreation and retirement location. Location in this setting might take into consideration: Town Subdivision Waterfront Proximity to Shopping Distance to Entertainment Convenience to Boatdock Location to a seller - and pricing the property - would have to take all of the above into consideration as well. Waterfront properties command higher prices, as do the convenience of getting to a boat. Private boat (0 comments)
table rock lake: Music Returns to Table Rock Lake In Lampe
- 03/28/10 05:06 PM
The Sounds of music.......I remember sitting on our deck in Shell Knob and hearing music drift over the waters of Table Rock Lake. We had just moved to our Shell Knob home a few months earlier. It was facinating for this City Girl to see lizards zipping around the Ozark rocks; Armadillos rooting in the yard; birds everywhere - which I had never seen before, and now........MUSIC On The Water!
That was 20 years ago, and the music stopped soon after that summer. We learned that what we heard were concerts at the Swiss Villa Amphitheater. It was host to (2 comments)
table rock lake: Where is Little Wichita?
- 01/04/10 06:37 AM
" LITTLE WICHITA" IN The Ozarks As a transplant to Shell Knob from Indiana, I am fascinated by all the migrations we are blessed to observe in southwest Missouri - two legged, two winged, etc. Living on Table Rock Lake, spitting distance from Arkansas, we're on the cusp of the south - a dividing line. Much as it was in the civil war, Missouri mixes both sides of the country.Twice a year, spring and fall, in Shell Knob, we entertain birds coming and going - hummingbirds, ducks, geese, seagulls, vultures, and eagles - to name just a few (there are more (1 comments)
table rock lake: Shell Knob Restaurant Closed
- 06/20/09 07:22 AM
There will be many disappointed Shell Knob visitors this summer. I have seen some already, as they walk up to Carole's Restaurant and find the door locked.
Carole's has been a landmark in Shell Knob, where it sits on the corner of the Plaza Shopping Center. Tourists looked forward to returning for another great breakfast each year as they started their vacation. Local organizations held regular meetings there. The Restaurant had been for sale for quite some time. Wanting to retire, but unable to find someone to fill their shoes in food service, the owners closed and sold the building. It (0 comments)
table rock lake: Poacher Arrests Ends Paddlefish Season
- 05/02/09 06:40 AM
Paddlefish Season Ends Paddlefish season is looked forward to each year on Table Rock Lake. It runs for six weeks normally, from mid - March to the end of April.
A total of two fish per day is the allowed catch for these unusual creatures that are said to provide a "poor-man's" cavier. The harvest of paddlefish is strictly regulated by the Missouri Conservation Department to ensure the fish population remains healthy and to give a high quality angling experience for everyone to enjoy. That quota was totally ignored by some poachers caught by Conservation Agents butchering 61 paddlefish on (0 comments)

table rock lake: Paddlefish Snagging Season Opens on Table Rock Lake
- 03/14/09 07:17 AM
American Caviar Paddlefish snagging season opens Sunday March 15th and runs through the end of April in Missouri. Often sought illegally for the fish eggs, this is the legal season to catch them. Not rated as highly as the expensive Beluga Caviar, Paddlefish eggs are still an acceptable substitute and quite sought after. Adventurous and Hardy Fishermen Required According to the Missouri Consevation Department, Snagging this primitive fish is dependent on weather conditions, primarily water temperature and flow. When water temperatures are 50‑55ºF and there is an increase in flow, paddlefish make spawning migrations upstream Early in the season, harvest is primarily (0 comments)
table rock lake: TIME TO FISH TABLE ROCK
- 03/02/09 06:44 AM
If it's March, can Fishing Tournaments be far behind? My Missouri Conservation calendar shows White Bass beginning their spawn March 21, and that is the date Galena's Park Board will be hosting its 2nd Annual White Bass Tournament. Local word of mouth has muskies spawning and on the move. That may be why I noticed so many boats on the Kings River near Golden.
Fireworks for the 4th of July will be the recipient of funds raised by a $30 entry fee for a two person team. There will be a 1st place prize of $300. - 2nd place prize (0 comments)
