table rock lake fishing: Everything Shell Knob- FEBRUARY - 02/05/12 03:38 PM
GROUNDHOG DAY WASN'T TOO encouraging, but  watching the evening news, I know we are  blessed to be in the Ozarks - not  in this weeks snow event as several  northern states were.

Noticed a sign at one of Shell Knob's boat dealers: Fish Still Bite When It's Cold!
Gotta love it!  Seems to be an increase in the number of bass boats on Table Rock Lake this week, but haven't seen any real action snagging lunkers yet.
Some professional bass fishermen preview lakes to find the best fishing holes for the spring fishing tourneys.
Table Rock is currently … (0 comments)

table rock lake fishing: NOT A MATTER OF LIFE AND DEATH IN SHELL KNOB - 03/19/10 10:45 AM
MUCH MORE IMPORTANT

I saw a sign somewhere that read "Living On The Water Isn't A Matter of Life and Death..... IT'S MUCH MORE IMPORTANT THAN THAT!

And after living on the water - more specifically - waterfront- for more than 20 years, I enthusiastically agree. However, I have found that lake living changes as we go through our own seasons of life.
Here in Shell Knob, on Table Rock Lake, we attract families that are either looking for that lake cottage for week ends and vacations, or it is the couple looking ahead to retirement and their dreams … (0 comments)

table rock lake fishing: Things To Do After You've Bought Your Shell Knob Home - 12/24/09 03:17 PM
What is there to do in Shell Knob, Mo?
As a REALTOR in Shell Knob, I am frequently asked what the Shell Knob community has to offer new residents.  This is not a frivolous question,  the Ozarks are  unique and might not suit everyone.

Shell Knob IS unique.   I know - everyone says that about their town, but you see, Shell Knob IS different - it isn't really a town or city.  We have no legal standing, other than our Post Office and Chamber of Commerce.  We are actually an area on the western portion of Table Rock Lake.

table rock lake fishing: FLOODING MAKES FOR GREAT FISHING ON TABLE ROCK - 06/08/08 05:17 PM
There is a fringe benefit to Table Rock Lake flooding in Shell Knob.  If you have a waterfront property, the lake level is still pretty high, so that means the lake is closer to your home.  That  gives you the benefit of having the fish up in your yard!

We took the boat down our tram and put it in last evening, but never turned the motor on - great way to save on gas. We didn't need to go anywhere to fish.  Dropped our lines in right where we were.

Ordinarily, this would be the brush in … (2 comments)

table rock lake fishing: JUMBO CATFISH - 07/04/07 04:33 PM
 SHELL KNOB CATCH
I guess everyone's got their favorite fishing hole, and my eyes lit up when I saw a picture in our local weekly newspaper of a young man holding two twenty pound flatheads!  Then a second picture  - it took two hands for this one - with a 26 pound catfish.
They said he caught them near the Hickory Hollow Resort in Shell Knob and he used goldfish and perch as his bait.
I fondly remember the night I took one of my grown sons out to my favorite cat fishing spot to introduce him to some night fishing.  We had no sooner … (0 comments)

table rock lake fishing: SHELL KNOB PADDLE FISHING - 03/09/07 04:04 PM
What in the world is a Paddlefish?
Paddlefishing season is almost upon us.  The Missouri Department of Conservation has stocked over half a million fingerlings (baby fish) over the past 15 years for the enjoyment of sportsmen.  These huge creatures normally are denizens of the deep, but in the spring they come to warm shallow waters in search of spawning habitat. On Table Rock Lake they concentrate in the lakes' narrow upper arms and have been caught frequently around the Shell Knob bridge.

What Are Those Things?Modern paddlefish (Polyodon Spathula)  are possibly the oldest surviving animal species in North America.  There are fossil … (2 comments)
