C.A.R. reports California home sales rise in November; share of short sales increasing
LOS ANGELES (Dec. 22) - California home sales rose in November, but were down from the previous year, according to data from the CALIFORNIA ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® (C.A.R.). The statewide median price declined from both the previous month and previous year.
Closed escrow sales of existing, single-family detached homes in California totaled a seasonally adjusted annualized rate of 490,950 in November, according to information collected by C.A.R. from more than 90 local REALTOR® associations statewide. In 1993, a 3,400-acre site within the San Bernardino National Forest was set aside to create the first Children's Forest in the United States. To begin the fulfillment of its unique mission of involving youth in taking care of the forest, 40 young people from around the country were selected and brought to work side by side with key Forest Service staff and other experts.They designed a trail and interpretive exhibits along the trail that teach young people about the forest. Housing prices vary from city to city, but even within your neighborhood or community, there may be distressed and non-distressed sub-markets with significant price differences. To illustrate, the overall median sale price of a detached existing home has been just over $300,000 throughout 2010. By comparison, the median price of a conventional non-distressed sale was about a third higher at roughly $400,000. AFD released the following recommendations for tree safety and to protect your home from other fire dangers during the winter:
Have a certified chimney sweep clean and inspect your chimney and fireplace annually for creosote build-up, cracks, crumbling bricks and obstructions. Place fireplace or wood stove ashes outdoors in a covered metal container at least 3 feet away from anything that can burn. Don't burn trash including gift wrapping. The wrapping may ignite suddenly and cause a flash fire. Home Prices Defy Predictions, Remain Stable
In recent months, the real estate market has been impacted by several outside forces that have resulted in some uncertainty. While the Tax Credit has expired and some lenders are still working their way out of a foreclosure moratorium the market is struggling to find secure footing. A monthly survey of 54 metropolitan areas indicates that sales were 4.9% below those in September and 25.9% below sales in November 2009. LOS ANGELES (Oct. 4) - A weaker-than-expected economic recovery will result in a projected decline in California home sales for 2010, although home sales are expected to edge up slightly in 2011, according to the CALIFORNIA ASSOCIATION OF REALTORS® (C.A.R.) "2011 California Housing Market Forecast" released today.
California home sales for 2010 are forecast to decline 10 percent from the 2009 sales figure of 546,500 homes sold. Sales in 2011 are projected to increase a lackluster 2 percent to 502,000 units compared with 492,000 units (projected) in 2010.
