realtor: Perspectives: U.S. and CA Home Sales Decline in July - 09/03/10 06:27 PM
Over the past week you’ve probably heard at least some of the details from The National Association of Realtor’s (NAR) announcement that homes sales throughout the country dropped 27% last month while home prices increased slightly nationwide compared to the same measures from July 2009.
Despite the drop in sales in July, the Pending Home Sales index, a forward-looking indicator, rose 5.2% to 79.4 based on contracts signed in July. This number reflects contracts signed, not closings, which may take 1-2 months to show up as sales.
